Got up at 5 this morning and it was still raining. Told Hunter I wasn’t going so he rolled out with a friend. They went to another spot killing 4. The morning before they killed 6. I may go in the morning.
A little update. I’m staying up for this polar event. After the duck hunt I got in the stand and seen 2 does right after. Got out at 11 and came back to the camp. Around noon, dj came out the woods, packed up and left.
Around 3, Hunter arrived and wasn’t going hunting so I left to sit the yote stand. It was in the mid 30’s and I figured the deer would come out the woodwork feeding hard as the temps lowered. I only seen 13 till dark, mostly fawns and few does. Got in the truck and it was 30 degrees. Felt much colder being a wet feel and nne wind at 11 mph. Cooked burgers on the electric grill inside and we chilling watching stupid playoffs and flipping back to hunting shows.
Plan in the morning, it will be 27 degrees and not warming up the whole day w chances of sleet. We are gonna walk a mile in the woods and hunt a deep slough for ducks. Gonna bring pearl and her tree platform to keep her out the water. We should get our limit. I will report after we thaw out from our hunt.
it will continue to get colder the next couple days and we should get above freezing Wednesday afternoon. Shocking for you Midwest people I know your laughing. All I can say is I will put my 30 degrees against your 30 and there is no comparison. This shit down here penetrates right through you in 5 minutes. I’ve bow hunted Missouri in 8 degrees and it just felt cold.
Actually it was two drakes that dropped. Couldn’t tell what was what early in the morning, but I knew they were mallards. The other double was 4 gadwalls came in and dropped two w one shot. Let’s just say Hunter was eating some humble pie when I had 5 ducks on the strap to his zero . He does shoot good thoGood shit man. Did you drop the drake and hen on those doubles?
