Naw not talking about the 'medicinal' stuff....just regular ole tobacco.

Back in the early 90s I got a little nostalgic for my uncle and his pipes. I remember going to visit him in Missouri and loved the smell of his pipe smoke. No clue what his brand was. It came in a foil pouch, I remember that much. Probably something from the local drug store. He'd make a big show of striking his long wooden matches on his bib overalls and lighting it. Jim's been dead for over 20 years now, but I can still see him there at the kitchen table puffing away.

I tried various blends in college...usually aromatics and black cavendish. Never knew what I was doing...would almost immediately get tongue bite and stop.

Started puttering around with it a few months ago when I was left unsupervised. Been giving Kentucky burley a try. That and some bulk oriental blend that was suggested by the local smoke shop. I figure I need to find something to pair with corn sqeezins...that way i can shoot my evil black rifle (once I fish it out of the lake from that accident) and enjoy alcohol, tobacco and firearms while extending my middle fingers toward D.C.

I know its a dying pass time, but I figure a few folks on here might still do it. What brand or style do you smoke?

Trustees at our twp smoked a cherry blend that smelled wonderful. Bro and I worked for our twp garage/fire department for a couple years over the last two summers of our HS years. We mowed cemeteries and worked sythes and sickles along guard rails, bridges and culverts along all backroads along with raking out freshly laid blacktop to cover potholes on the few blacktop twp roads we had. Anywho, the one trustee of the 3 and a few elders in our crew smoked pipes throughout the day during lunch, breaks and meetings and I remember trying to get downwind of them cuz the cherry blend they all ran through their pipes smelled pretty dang good. Good memories and these two young boys had their first experience in working for a paycheck and with a crew. Great times during the late 70’s…👍🏻😎

My old man smoked a pipe for a while, he smoked Capt Black. I can still smell that aroma too this day when I think about it….. A friend picked me upa pipe while he was in Afghanistan 15 years or so ago, still sitting in the box he gave to me…. One of these days I might fire it up…. Just not today….

Can you smoke the pipe in an electric smoker or do I have to use charcoal?

My dad smoked a pipe up till I was very young, I never remember him doing it, just seeing the pipe and accoutrements near his chair and a faint remembrance of the scent.

A few of my friends do including my cousins husband. He gave me my pipe because he refinished them and due to a few of our conversations.

I've dabbled with mine a few times but rarely anything serious. I'm more interested because I rarely have the 45-60 plus minutes I use to enjoy a cigar so I wanted something that I could do in a shorter time period occasionally. I'll probably bring it to Strouds this fall.
