Maybe you are right. Don't think I have a single picture from back in those days, it was just a matter of time on how wet we got so we never took cameras.

Currently driving to the camp. Got to level some stands, put cams out, fix cams that the bears fucked with. Bringing a fridge up since the other one at the camp finally bit the bullet. Might try to make a teal hunt if I get up. Blake coming up tomorrow, we gonna try to fill his last gator tag and probably try to catch a few frogs. Who knows what we gonna get into . ETA to camp is midnight, been up since 4 with 4 hours of sleep. Pearl riding shotgun.

Well woke up and didn’t feel like going prospecting (teal hunt). Got the old fridge out and new old one in. Time to start working on cams and see which ones are still working.

Got to the property to go fix some stands the bears ate and some cams. Got 2 out of 3 reveals working again and did some bandaids to the stands. Damn Johnson grass is coming up with all the rain we got from the hurricane.

Had this buck on cam after the season was over. He usually shows up first of October then leaves and comes back in February.

And of course I have my boar. He don’t mess w my stuff but the younger ones do.

Went out to go frogging w Blake and his boys in the go devil boat, get about 6 miles in, fixing to start and the throttle cable breaks. Blake “rigs” it up so we can get back to the launch.

Tomorrow I will go back to property to set some more cams. After I will go check out some inholdings w water for teal. Or do whatever…..lol. Anyway, me and pearl are laid up on the couch watching tv. Life is good, soon my hunting season will begin and I will be happy happy.

Oh so I’m coming back next Thursday to till up food plots and plant clover and wheat. It’s been 10 years since I’ve turned the soil over so it’s do. Bring some shrimp up for another buddy, brought Blake 50# today.

Well I didn’t get anything planted nor tilled up. Did get all my cams on property for a total of 12. 4 new wide eye cell cams, 2 remaining reveals, one took a shit. 3 Bushnell cell cams that don’t send pics but use as cams and 3 browning strike force regular cams out of 6 that still work and are almost 8-9 years old. My wise eye cams are blowing up at the moment.

Back at the camp. This morning I went and tilled up my plots.

The deer couldn’t wait for me to finish, so they came out anyway while I was cutting ground. Never ran off.

let the grass dry up and wait for some rain, then I will plant winter wheat and durana clover.

moved 3 stands this evening to Blake’s camp. Tomorrow we will put the other two stands on my place and use the tractor to level 2 stands that have a lean.

Leveled out my tower stands that had a lean to them. Got 2 stands from Blake and we placed them out. Still have some minor things to do with the stands. No rain forecasted in the 10 day outlook, but we will get some. Gonna scout next couple days, bow season starts Tuesday. Did get a pic of a bear just across the road from the property, sob went to me.

Well it’s the first day of bow season down here in Louisiana. Skeeters are singing me a song and thermacell giving me some relief. By myself today, on public ground. Balmy 71 degrees w no wind. I’m on an end of a slough between what we call palmetto ridges.

Well no luck this morning, seen 4 coons and some tree rats. Warming up now and gonna skip the skeeter fest this afternoon and cook a pot of beans.

Hb coming up and we will make the afternoon hunt on a grove of persimmons. Gonna be nice to at least have one of my boys with me, wishing it was both.

We hunted this evening at the persimmon flat. Not a ton of fruit but none were falling. Most were still green w a few yellow/orange ones. We shook some trees and none fell. I set up on a dried water hole and seen a doe after sunset out of range. Hb walked a total of 5 miles and crept up on a bedded hog. Took the shot but only got 7” of penetration. New spot in the morning, the journey continues of public hunting.

Round 3! Back to close where I hunted opening day, just this time I turned at a narrow dried slough where I hunted a few years ago and had a bear cub walking a log under me.

I have two separate spots of water w hog and deer sign.

Hunter is in the next slough over where he killed a doe when I seen the bear. This time he’s on a pinch point where the big duck hole is that we hunt. 53 degrees and just a couple skeeters buzzing.
