Recommendations for an Archery Chronograph

Doing a search on Amazon, an archery chronograph can be anywhere from $50 to $175+.

I like testing various archery setups and knowing their speed, helps with making any modifications.
I don't think the brand matters much, for what I'm going to be doing with it.

Recommendations?

Funny and interesting that you should post that photo. :sneaky: 2 of the area archery shops had a chronograph, until one of the customers shot it.

I won't be purchasing one at this time....perhaps later. I was able to find an archery shop that had a functional chronograph and I did my testing there. All I wanted was to find out how fast this Ravin is shooting the heavier arrows that I built, so I can set the "speed dial" accordingly and sight it in for hunting. :)

You can’t drop all of that and not give the #’s! Come on man! 😂

I think a chronograph is about the only piece of archery related gear I’ve never owned. I am certain most of mine would register as “slow”. 😀
I’ve shot through a number of them at shoots, clubs and shops. Like everyone, I’ve always found my bows to be much slower than I’d have guessed. Yet, they kill effectively.

I posted this in the Crossbow section....

Well, I ordered some R500 arrows from Ravin. I added 125 gr. of weight to the interior of the shaft and a 150 gr. tip weight. The interior weight is .105 diameter weed whip, cut to for the interior space of 19"....so, 38" folded in half and I used 2 of these. I pulled the nock and inserted them into the shaft, which was easier and less damaging than removing the tip insert. :sneaky:

TAW is 625 and after shooting them thru a chronograph, they showed an impressive 350 fps. That's only a 50 fps loss from the 400 gr. arrows at 400 fps.
I purchased some Excalibur 150 gr. fixed 3 blade broadheads to go with this setup.

All I need to do is sight this setup in and go hunting. (y)
