I slipped in early because this stand needed a rope and hooks, Been here 15 minutes and just had a doe go through. We planted clover on our mulched ridge but stilt grass overtook out there too. Now it’s 2 foot tall brown dead grass. There’s going to be a war on stilt grass the off season.

I agree. I wasn't trying to diminish the anguish of trying to raise deer. I also put my heart and soul into this and know that some day I will experience the same pain. For now my neighbors will continue to provide that hurt.

That is knotty pine. A buddy has a mill and cut me the friends and family deal.

Rainy morning in October….I worked on the game room/den project. It’s basically done. I got the turkey wall decorated and hung some pictures. All that’s left is to paint the poles black this winter. I have some open walls that are for future memories and I might get some more old pics printed...

This is why it’s good to not have all your eggs in one basket. We have a lease in Athens county that has been very disappointing so far but at least it’s another place to hunt.

I have had better luck pre-rut but it’s also effective during the rut at times.

The only public I have ever hunted is in WV. I can’t count how many bucks I have grunted in. I love grunting in bucks I see in the distance. But there is an art to it for sure. I’m with Jesse on the rattling. It’s worked a few times but I must really suck at it.

I carry a grunt call every hunt. I have had a lot of success with it over the years…. Both blind calling and “reeling” them in closer.

Not just the deer! Very few hunters will have a clue what to do, especially those under 30.

When we had the Athens property I became friends with the major land owners and we shared pics. It was amazing how many of the mature bucks would go from one corn pile to the next to the next every day/night. Sometimes we would get pics 15 minutes apart over a mile away from each other.

I say this all the time. Just because you aren’t seeing a buck anymore doesn’t mean he’s moved out or gone nocturnal, he’s just not moving out in the open where most hunters want to sit. Great video, thanks for posting.

I’ve lived what you are saying believe me. I quit hunting WV for 8 years because I was tired of killing spikes. But to be honest, I see more spikes in Ohio now than in WV. Back in the 80s if you saw a spike in Ohio it was big news. Now it’s very common.

Saw a velvet covered spike right before dark. Slow evening. At least I dropped a pouch of SD cards on the way back to the house so I can go look for them tomorrow.

2 does and 7 two year old Toms to be so far. 300+ mosquitoes and 137 stink bugs. 27 of which have landed on me. Little @giles rodents everywhere.

I worked on a project in the den/game room this morning. I sent “hero” pics in to a company called storyboards. They print the pics off on 8x8 foam boards and supply double sided adhesive tape to hang them. I got them hung today. It’s different, but I’m different. The photos don’t do it...
