    Doggone good dog thread

No Birthday Party? Milo got a birthday party. He goes back Wed to the doctor and hopefully gets the stitches out of his eye and hopefully everything is good.

I own one in a 20 gauge. Great gun for the money and already comes with a turkey choke.

    Cell phone boosters

You need to have minimal readings. I have a WEBoost at camp. Basically it works by having an outside antenna that has a corded connection to an inside antenna. They can't be too close together. It works well to boost in that room of our camp. We went from sometimes to being able to send a...

    Deer Harvest History

Most states have when thru herd reduction. You see the very same complaints in those states as you do in Ohio. Like I said in PA we went thru it before you guys did in Ohio. Once the herd is reduced the habitat bounces back and then they increase the population. In PA now you don't hear as...

    Deer Harvest History

I also think as hunters have aged the need or the want to kill multiple deer has gone down. The hunting for food for the table isn't as popular as it once was.

    Deer Harvest History

I think we are talking about 2 different things. I was referring to your comment of less tags being sold. Let's say county ABC had a 3 deer limit. SO a hunter who lives and pretty much only hunts in that county buys a tags and fills it, He then buys another tags and fills it, Then he buys...

    Deer Harvest History

We went thru herd reduction in PA earlier than you guys did in Ohio. Probably about 8-10 years earlier. Pretty much followed the same pattern and that was mostly by design. Once the population was lowered to where they wanted, they reduce limits and allow the herd to increase. Probably some...

Or is part of that because the county limits have been lowered? Don't know the answer to that, but just wondering.

Anyone heard if they are going to the deer management units this coming year instead of doing the county system?

    Electronic Hearing Protection

Has anyone tried the small ear piece instead of the muffs. Thinking they may be nicer when wearing a beanie but they are more expensive. Some of the ones above look slim so maybe wearing a beanie over them wouldn’t be an issue.

    Electronic Hearing Protection

Long story short I am looking at buying some electronic hearing protection to wear when hunting. I have tinnitus already pretty good in both ears from abuse and have decided that I need to do something to not lose anymore hearing. I have tried using conventional ear plugs but they are a pain...

Using an Aider with Climbing Sticks

Yes I do the same when I set up, and yes it is easier for me to see behind me as I can pivot a little to help out my neck that doesn't turn that well. LOL. It is just that you are more exposed behind you than in a conventional treestand setup. That is about the only negative I have found with...

Using an Aider with Climbing Sticks

The whole behind the tree thing is a double edge sword in my opinion. If you have a deer come in behind you then you are more likely to get picked off as you are visible and you aren't as likely to see them before they see you. In a conventional stand you have the tree blocking you, so they...

Using an Aider with Climbing Sticks

I use it some on the private as well. Hunt a preset one night and see that I need to make a move, easy as pie to move to another tree the next night or time I hunt it.

Using an Aider with Climbing Sticks

This setup is for mobile hunting. Basically for sitting somewhere new all the time. For preset trees on private I still use ladderstands.
