    Wildlife 2019/2020 Deer Season

I can’t imagine there are too many hunters who’ve killed two albino squirrels with a bow. Crazy looking animals

Thank you, I haven’t given up yet [emoji23]

After four missed with the bow and one with a shotgun I effectively scared every turkey off that property. Sunday I went out to a bow only logging property and jumped a Tom and some hens so I backed out. I came back Monday around 9 am and just snuck in super slowly to where they were. I eased...

Yeah it’s a very odd little spot that’s attached to a big patchwork of publicly accessible logging land but I think people head to the larger chunks and don’t realize this is part of it.

Called in a great Tom to ten yards. Somehow missed again with the bow. In eight shots with a bow I’ve only taken one Tom and with 4 shots from a shotgun I’ve taken five birds. I think I’m going to stick with shotguns for a while. I need some meat and a bit less frustration.

Wind blew it lol. Found it right beneath their roost tree. Here’s the flock in action.

Well I got there at 3 am and my blind was gone. I got myself soaked trying to find it. Took me over an hour to get set up in a different, much worse spot. After a few hours I had a full flock of toms and jakes all around me but none would get close enough for a shot. I have a huge project due in...

Yeah I generally get in here around 3 and sleep in the blind. I was just curious if they would get spooked by seeing decoys not moving for that long or if they’re too dumb to think about that.

Back in Oregon. Yesterday I called in two nice toms twice with Chad’s call. The second time I got a nice frontal shot. I let her rip and ripped the window of the blind in half. I thought I was high enough to clear it but I was not. Pretty frustrating waking up at 2 am for that bullshit. I’ll...

Lol, that right there is called a two point or a forky out here (or forkinhorn if you’re weird).

The matched set with the forks? I can take one when I get back

I did a full skinning of the second jake and only found one potential bb hole in his thigh that didn’t enter the body cavity. I’m fairly confident he just jumped off the cliff and committed suicide. I believe I got an accidental poultry double murder suicide.

In three days of hunting, I had seven hunts for the same Tom and two jakes. Three times I got them inside 50 yards but never got a shot through the brush. Yesterday, after the seventh hunt, my uncle walked past the birds on his hike up to the Mesa. They were just below the cliffs but were close...

First warm morning I’ve had here. Tom was gobbling his head off pretty close behind the house. I set up and called twice but it sounded like they were moving off so I did what I’m good at and snuck into 30 yards. Problem is... the same brush I used to sneak made it impossible to shoot. And then...

Haha not sure which one, haven’t had too many fresh ones but here’s the last couple. My uncle has started letting too many people hunt and they killed a shit load of bucks last year. This morning the Tom I’ve been hunting for over a week got shot just across the fence, along with the jake he...

Two super cool bucks. There’s a few different gene pools on the property and that’s one of the rarer ones. Hopefully I can share some dead turkeys soon. Supposed to rain all week then jump up into the 70s next week.

Better idea of how big the whitetail looking mule deer sheds are (two different deer).

Turkey hunting has been weird, entertaining and frustrating so far, no shots fired yet but quite a few close calls. I’ve found two small whitetail sheds (Georgia), 3 old elk sheds and 6 mule deer sheds so far.

I’ve gotta leave in 10ish days so hopefully that happens. Snuck in to 10 yards on a flock today but it was all hens and jakes. Watched them all move in a line over my gun barrel. Super windy so gonna focus on school and sheds today.

Birds moved down into the valley with all the snow. Found almost no sign on a 4 mile hike yesterday. Towards the end of the hike one of my bugles got a shock gobble near the house. I headed towards that area this morning. It was below 20 so the birds were cold and just fluffed up in the sun...
