Season's only about a month out and this forum is dead?!

Turkeys are pretty habitual animals and will often roost in the same tree or general vicinity and utilize the same food sources daily unless something disturbs them from this pattern. I have followed birds from season to season just based on their habits (they don't have large territories of...

Just moved here and don't know much about it but the have seen a lot of carp around the Portage Lakes area when I was down there. That lake chain looks nice and is close. If you are every looking for a partner hit me up I used to do a lot of Bow Fishing back in PA on the Allegheny and local lakes.

    Antelope mount

Very nice display room I could only wish to someday have one similar. I'm digging that Turkey Fan mount with the beards hanging of the side. Any chance I can get a close up also is it homemade? +Rep for the PA representation

    DEER CRAP and Scouting

Just as a general note a Doe and (2) offspring in the area can lay a considerable amount of feces alone. I would be open to saying that it would have to almost be walking on mounds of shit to use it as any kind of indicator of stand placement. I will offer though that I guess when initial...

Season's only about a month out and this forum is dead?!

I would be interested in understanding your logic in that patterning turkeys is in my opinion a lot more predictable then deer. Scouting is just doing your homework in order to raise chances of success. To be honest I don't know how one could not enjoy scouting turkey I mean come on they...

    Deer call

Flambeau 515 Mad Buck Growl Call Very well constructed call as well as has what I would define as the perfect tone. I have called countless bucks in with this call many of which I have shot. I used to be very timid calling but after using this call I am the complete opposite. Some days I feel...

What Safety Harness do you use......

The general post is to see what kind of Harness people are using these days. What they like/don't like; who is making the best products (Muddy, Spider, Hunter Safety Systems, etc...); and opinions on different products. For a better understanding of why I am looking see below. The new Hunter...

Anyone else annoyed with the start date being on Monday?

From there over into Potter county I seem to have noticed a pretty dense population of birds. Although I doubt I will ever make it back because if I do hunt in PA it will most likely be south in Indiana/Armstrong Counties if interested I could send you some snips of Google maps within the...

Anyone else annoyed with the start date being on Monday?

I see so you were just west of Mckean......did you hunt the Alleghany Forest at all? I didn't have much success only because I went back to Indiana county every year but the few times I did chase birds I was on them all day.

    Private ground hunting?

Obviously respectively but when purchasing property that ground is an asset...It is one's choice to purchase the property but by no means does that mean the deer and other animals on the property are "your" deer as I often hear people refer to them. I do not think this thread was necessarily...

    Private ground hunting?

I do not condone paying to hunt as animals/hunting is meant to be a free range sport......but I do not mind the idea (although I never have) of paying if the costs are meant to be associated with boarding or food related to staying at a place close to the hunting location.

Anyone else annoyed with the start date being on Monday?

I grew up in NW PA more toward the SW part in what the northern people called "Flat Lander" country. Killed a lot of birds hunting small farms and wood parcels but the last 4 years I was in PA I lived in McKean County in the Alleghany National Forest. That I have to say is a true experience any...

Anyone else annoyed with the start date being on Monday?

Same I just moved here last summer and never hunted Ohio for turkey I usual to dual hunt PA and NY with good success. What county do you hunt in PA? PA has always been good to me even with its later season and no Sunday hunting. My first impression is that there are a lot more birds and a...

Anyone else annoyed with the start date being on Monday?

Gives me two weeks to get it done in Ohio before I head back to my parents in PA......I like the timing although May turkey season in PA ALWAYS misses the first breeding season.

"Poaching" case goes to the Ohio Supreme Court

It truly amazes me how a simple thing as the antlers and antler scoring have completely ruined the integrity of men, I mean take a step back and look all of this of is a derivative of a sport that has evolved into the coveting of a stupid antler on top of an animals head. Its disgusting that...

    Thinking about getting into it...

Myself being a "diehard" its what I live for, how most feel for turkey is like I for deer in that I could care less most seasons, but when spring turkey rolls around I get like a little kid is for Christmas every year. My life has been spent around public land "pressured" birds so I can not...
