    PERFECT Timing!

This was the first September 1st in many years that I didn't get out to shoot either doves, geese, or teal. It was tough to hear of my brother's group shooting 3 limits of doves in just under 2 hours, or of Jake whacking 4 limits of geese by 7:30... I mean, that's just fuggin lights-out action...

    Deer names

Now I was never one to name deer but I fault no one for doing so. So don't get me wrong now on the following. I raise my own organic cattle for the family with a Scotish Highland and Poled Hereford cross. And when city folks come over and think that is just neat. Then they ask what their names...

    Deer Processing near Cleveland???

Does anyone know of any deer processing businesses around the Cleveland area? Use to do it in NY when I lived there but now I just don't have the space.

    Deer decoys

Does anyone used deer decoys and do the work for you? Couple years ago I used a Montana doe fold up doe decoy. A doe walked up from behind it and I guess never seen it until she was beside it. And when she was beside it at about 10 ft and seen it she almost jumped out of her skin. She jumped...

    Trying for 1st bow deer

I have half heartly tried bow hunting in the past 40 yrs and have cleanly missed 2 deer. But a 68 now I figure time is running short. Handgun hunting has always been my 1st love followed by shotgun and if need be muzzleloading. Anyway I have been battling MS for the last 32 yrs and no longer...

pistol cartridges for deer gun season?

Now that I have scratched a few heads. What is everyone's thoughts on hunting deer with rifles in pistol cartridges such as 45/70's, 44, 375, 444? Just asking. My reasoning is ammo is so expensive and the thought of reloading is so much cheaper. Box of 5 sabots are 20.00 or so. I like to shoot...

Well haven't posted in a while but have kept up on the reading. Finally got a pic of a decent buck when I pulled a card today. I'm really turning up the heat lately in terms of trying to find some slungers, so it'll only get better from here. Nothing spectacular but worthy of my first...

TOO May Buck of the Month: Schuster Family Success

For the 2011/12 deer season I would have a new tool, trail cameras. I have wanted to start running cameras for years, but the thought of them getting stolen always kept me away. I finally broke down and purchased two for the upcoming season. I ran one camera at a property in Geauga County...

    Mixing Your Deer Minerals

Mixing the minerals was a pain. I cut the recipie down and made about 3 batches instead. This barrel helped to mix them well. I got ahold of 4 pieces of thin angle about 16" long and bolted to the barrel.... Just tip it up on the edge and roll it back and forth....... Insta Mix!

    Where do the deer go?

Not being a smart aleck here. This time of the year, it seems the deer just vanish. I understand there are does ready to birth. I am sure they are not moving as much. I would assume they have been feeding heavily at night close to where they bed. What about the yearlings though? What about...
