Yep! In some ways they have more rights than regular cops. With both cops and GW all they need is reasonable suspicion. Thing is the act of hunting is reasonable suspicion. Same as if a cop sees you leave a known crack house. A GW sees you intending to hunt.

Well that's a crock of shit.

What if some of that "stuff" was visible, in plain sight? Would that allow them to do a search?

Doesn't have to. The act of wearing camo alone is reasonable suspicion. I've been told of stories and even seen it on cops where guys were pulled over and the cop wanted to search the vehicle but lacked reasonable suspicion. Noticing the guy was wearing camo or said they were returning home from fishing the cop called in the GW, reasonable suspicion now exists for hunting and the GW searches the vehicle. And as always tells the cop what he finds or makes the arrest.

If you're in your boat fishing expect ole GW to look in the livewell.

That's crazy....

I dumped a carcass on private, abandoned ground once (littered). My dumb ass left a tag for the GW to find. Long story short, he paid me a visit at home, inspected the buck mount, and others. Was actually very understanding but the land owner didn't want to drop the issue. I went to court and he came along to tell the judge I was up front and honest. Something he did not have to do.

It ended up costing a couple hundred bones. That deer was costly in the end....

I guess they are all different.

Come to think of it he was probably looking for yotes with powder burns on their face from being shot point blank in the hole.

Hahaha! ASSHOLE...lol

I had to reach over the box of beer to grab my crossbow. It was all over at that point. Crossbow was cocked with no bolt in it. I'm sure I looked guilty of something/everything. We had a lot of bad shit happen on this property last year too. So I was pretty much happy with how extensive he actually was. I had all the right answers and it paid off.

They still have to follow the constitution and ORC. They can search but need a warrant. They just want everyone to believe they have higher authority. Glad it panned out ok. Guess I better start carrying all my written Permission slips.

They don't need a warrant with probable cause and like I said earlier that's not hard to find. You're right in that don't have a higher authority than regular cops, they simply have an easier time making the probable cause claim.

If they needed a warrant they would never find an over the bag limit or short fish in someone's livewell or cooler.

I think the woods is calling me this evening.

I think I've also thought of a pretty good idea. If I have a doe come into range, I'm gonna smoke her and bottle her piss….and scent glands.

Two years ago I had a buck check a doe I had just shot. He then turned and walked right to me. I pulled both bolts out of the ground and never moved my feet.

After working all these hours…I couldn't bring myself to leave the kids this evening. I'll spend this weekend with them and next weekend in the woods. The weather also helped me make this decision.

I guess it's time for an update. As many of you seen, I was able to get a few times this past weekend. My folks made the trip down from Elmore again and I was lucky enough to have the entire weekend off work. The property we hunt is an "earn a buck" property (I'm the lead hunter and push that rule pretty hard), so the weekend plan was to get some freezer meat. We also have 6 people hunting this 180 acres, not sure I shared that yet. It needed up being a weekend every hunted, lol. Whatever it worked out.

Friday two guys hunted it and one guy tagged a small doe.

Saturday my old man and I hunted all day and I tagged a button buck.

Sunday 4 of us hunted and TWO guys tagged a huge doe.

Monday two guys hunted and another big doe took a nap.

Tuesday/today two guys hunted and tagged a button…

I was really wanted to hunt tomorrow as it a veterans day tradition of mine, but I think the place needs to cool down a bit… That damn giant 8 is haunting me though and I was able to see him Sat at last light. I was also the only guy out of the 6 that has seen him this year. I almost shit a brick when that giant showed up on here Sunday! I instantly sent that guy a message and held my breath until he returned it.

Anyways, I don't normally hunt my place without my kids…I think I'm gonna give it a shot in the morning. I've been seeing a big bodied buck wandering through the last 2 mornings from my daughters bedroom window (I like to stand there in the mornings for a little bit). I haven't been able to get a real good look at his rack though. Hasn't been enough light to see it through the woods to say for sure. He looks big and mature, worth a closer look. My hopes for a mature buck on the other property has gone down a lot with all the pressure and gut piles all over. Anyone have any experience hunting a place with this much pressure? The surrounding areas are getting hunting also every weekend and some during the week also. The deer usually flood this place when the woods fills up with hunters.

I walked around my woods a little on Sunday…holy shit, I'll have to take some video and figure out how to upload it. No joke, EVERY branch that hangs over my trail has a rub under it! This goes on for about 100 yards. At first I thought it was turkey scratchings until I looked closer. I've never seen anything like it. I don't think it'll be too hard to call this dude in ,he's all fired up and ready to go.
