I went down at 8:00 AM and started planting the 1.0 ac plot. I had WTI Winter Greens and Tall Tines seed in stock. It's a lot of turnips but the deer have eat every turnip and radish tops the last 2 yrs. Hopefully some of the oats I tilled under on 8-16 will come up if we get some heavy rains. But I don't have much hope there.
I did have a 1/2 ac of Evolved Harvest Easy Plot left over from 2014 so I did a 50% top dress on the 1.0 ac. I also seeded the little area in the turnips.
I always do a 50% coverage and seed and fertilizer 2 times. Double the work but I believe it covers better.
At 11:30 it started a light sprinkle so maybe this time I'll get lucky and get a crop.
Next year it's back to WTI Forage Oats.

Well it was a total bust on the heavy rains yesterday. We only got a light sprinkle. There is a 50% chance on Friday afternoon then nothing for several days.

Thank goodness we got a heavy rain today and that should save my last chance for a fall crop. Hell it might even give some moister deep enough to let some of the oats I tilled under on 8-16 to sprout.
Trimming some brush and going to bush hog my clover tomorrow.

I went down and trimmed some brush today. Some of the honey suckle I cut down 2 yrs ago is now 7' again. The landowner wanted me to cut the brush 3' tall so they could see it when running their hay equipment. I did cut another little patch so I can see the west end of the hay field. I need to cut 10' off to my left and I should be go to go. I bring all the brush cuttings back to my property and because of all these 3' stumps it's a pain.
My 1/2 ac of turnip, radish is looking good and is about 6" tall and filling nicely.
I just ran out of energy today and need to finish tomorrow. I tried to pick up rocks on the way back but my back hurt like hell so I need to get them picked up in the next couple days before the new crop comes up. The disk turned up all the smaller flat rocks. Strange as it is I haven't found any Indian arrow heads from working this 3.0 ac up the last 3 years. I found 2 arrow heads when building the house and pole barn.

I went down to bush hog my 1.5 ac clover plots. I got about 75% done and when turning around I popped the tubeless front tire off the bead and it went flat. Lucky the tire would stay in the center of the rim 'V' and I got the tractor back up to the barn OK with no damage to the rim.
Took the tire off today and need to run up town and have a tube put in the damn thing. At lest no real damage done just a waste of good time.

It is nice being retired and living right here. But I got notice today my R&D work starts all over tomorrow. But at least I got the case trimming setup for 3000 plus per hour if everything is running OK.

I got the tire fixed. Tire Discounters didn't have any 16" tubes so they just put air back in it again and it's holding.
I finished bush hogging the clover.
I seen no new crop coming up yet that I planted on 9-9.
9-18
We got a nice short rain this morning and 60% chance of rain tomorrow. I'm running out of growing time on my fall plot planting.

The 60% chance of rain missed us and went North and didn't get a drop.
I went down and pulled the cards on my cams.
Glad to see in 3 short day my new planted plot went from zero to what might be a full crop. Good coverage with plants about 1/2" high. With the light rain we had yesterday and the temp stays down and don't dry things up I should be OK.
The mowed clover and the other turnip, radish plot looks great at 8-10" high.

We finally are having some rain as it's been raining nonstop for 6.5 hrs. Just a nice light steady shower. Looks like we have couple more hours of rain coming.
Not sure if my new crop up since 9-19 is still OK and I'll check tomorrow.

I went down and the plot I planted 9-9 looks like most of the crop made it through the dry spell. Good coverage of 1-3" plants. The plot I planted 8-18 is knee high. I didn't check for the size of the bulbs. I was in a hurry to get back to the house to shut the cattle water off.

I pulled my cards today. I checked on my 1.0 ac plot I planted on 9-9 and it looks like I've got a 90% crop growing about 5" high. The other .5 ac plot is over knee high. But forgot to check on bulb sizes as it'll be nice to eat some fresh turnips and radishes.

I went down and smoked up the inside of my hunting tower. I adjusted the Plotwatcher time lapse camera to get more of the food plots. I have a 2 power lens on it and the pictures of course look 2 times of small.
I pulled some purple tops turnips and some are as big as softballs. I peeled a big one for supper and it sure was good, not woody and moist. Good thing I planted .5 ac so there will be some for the deer as the whole family just loves turnips.
