2019’ shed season has started

Personally I hunt private lands, but I know some shed heads that hunt public with good to great success. Their advice to me was to go deep as you can away from easy access.

Shea and I found our fist of the year today.
School got called early due to an impending ice storm so we took advantage and headed to the farm.
Found one small one, but a good time was had!

Had both my dogs out today for our first real shed hunt of the year. Covered a lot of ground and found one. Buck walked by it the first time and I waited for him to circle around. He finally found it and was pretty proud. It’s a start for him.

Put 8 miles on in perry county on national forest this weekend and never found anything and put 6 miles on this evening down here in north carolina on a piece of public ground found a little deadhead and a little shed been laying there for a year or so

Well, my spots are 15 foot under water. The mighty Scioto probably has all the sheds in the Ohio river by now or covered under 3 foot of silt. Super bummer. Driving around I did see over 150 deer today just standing around the upland ag fields because they had been driven out of the bottoms from the water and had nowhere else to go. Only one rack on in the bunch. This flooding is unreal.

Went out for a bit this morning and found 1. Not very big but a fatty for its size. Too much snow out here to have much luck looking.

Number 2, 3, 4 and 5. Still early. Haven't made any serious trips yet. As par, the little ones seem to be dropping first and farm county is 2 to 3 weeks behind on dropping then the big woods.

Got out for an hour today, and 20 minutes in found this matched set. Double what I found last year, lol
