So today I get a text from "Giles"..... He's probably the only one on here that knew I had some serious health issues last year and earlier this year.... Guess he read a post about someone passing and thought he better check in on me since I haven't logged on that much lately... Well Im still on this side of the grass and seeing a flicker of light at the end of the tunnel.... Still a few bumps in the road ahead but getting there....

So it all began last Aug when I went out to Illinois to do work for the up and coming deer season... I got bit up by chiggers and tick's and came home with a few tick's embedded in my back.... So off to the doctor for antibiotics and naturally he sends me for blood work.... My PSA count came back at 16, it should not go over 3 before the red light goes off for prostate cancer.... Ok so I make an appt. with a urologist and while doing a CAT scan they notice a mass in my bladder... They said it must be addressed NOW... So bladder surgery is scheduled for Oct.24th.... So wondering how long recovery time is and if I an make Illinois I ask how big the incision is??? He said no incision.... We go up through your penis... OK... Now imagine this they need a scaple to cut with.... a camera to see with.... tongs to grab with.... and something to cauterize you with... A lot of shit going up that little guy... So they get the mass out and it was cancerous but it was contained and they feel it didn't go anywhere....

Next step is a biopsy on my prostate second week of Nov. This is done up through your rectum. They take 12 piece's of your prostate for biopsies....

Fast forward to week of Thanksgiving.... I wasn't feeling up to snuff and Thanksgiving Day went to the ER with a 103.5 temp.... They admitted me and said I had SEPSIS (BLOOD POISIONING) and a bad urinary track infection.... So after several days of constant blood being drawn and on an IV of antibiotics they sent me home with oral antibiotics....

Day before Christmas Eve I get a 104 degree fever and chill's that I couldn't stop shaking.... So off to the ER again for another extended stay... SEPSIS and urinary track infections are back, or should I say the SEPSIS bug never got killed the first time.... This time they put a Mid-Line port in my arm and I had to go back to the hospital for the next 10 day's every day and get attached to an IV for antibiotics.... This seemed to kill the bug and I was ready to go for my next procedure....

Now going back to Nov. 1st I wasn't able to empty my bladder all the way, due to the fact my prostate was huge and was constricting my uretha (tube that comes down from your bladder)…. So I had to catherize myself 4-5 times a day... Anyone on here ever have the pleasure of inserting 18 inches of plastic tubing up your penis into your bladder????
So much fun, esp. when your half asleep in the middle of the night....

So my last procedure was a "green light laser" to open things up.... Yup, you guessed it.... Up through the good old penis again.... This procedure they insert the laser up to your bladder and it vaporizes everything in its path thus opening things up... Kinda scary.... But now I'm pissing like a race horse....

In the meantime results came back from the prostate biopsy and of the 12 sections taken only one had a trace of cancer.... So small the doctor said we don't even have to worry about it as it will never kill me... Well that's not good enough for me as I am scheduling radiation to take care of it.... He also went back up into bladder to look around and take some additional biopsies... All results from this were clean... Will have to have it checked every couple months for awhile....

Oh... I did change urologist's as I feel the first one didn't follow up on certain questions I brought up concerning how I felt after bladder surgery and I'm certain if he did I would have never got SEPSIS..... Simple blood work would have found it....

So there you have it in a nut shell.... Oct. Nov. and Dec. last year were a living hell.... Only hunting I got in was that week of early bear season in Jersey (And then I wasn't really into it as I was constantly wondering what was looming ahead with the up coming surgeries)… I did manage to get out for bear one day in Dec. and passed a 200 lber with the gun... Some guys said what the hell, you should have shot him after all you went through and missed half the season... Nope not me... I'm here after one bear and and only one bear.... I was satisfied just watching him walk through at about 40 yds..... First year I missed Illinois since 2002.... Only three guys went out this year and they shot 3 with the bow and got skunked during gun.... My friend Tod did shoot a 163 inch 10 point on a morning that was below zero.... Guy is a great hunter.....

Damn, so sorry too read all that, buddy... Sorry I lost track of you through our move. Hopefully all goes well for you in 2020....

I knew you had health issues that kept you from your annual Illinois hunt. I didn’t imagine it had been so severe! Glad to read you’re on the mend and hope next season is much more enjoyable!
