I'll keep checking once we get a decent rain...that is a lonely Chanterelle.they're just getting started. middle of July to Middle of August is always when I find the most.
Been seeing them all over around here!So what are these technically? Told my buddy I'm pretty sure they're deadlyView attachment 107326View attachment 107327
probably Chlorophyllum Molybdites, or commonly called a false parasol. yes, very poisonous. easily confused with Shaggy Manes. one of the most commonly eaten poisonous mushrooms in North America. Shaggy Manes are pretty good to eat if you are sure about them.So what are these technically? Told my buddy I'm pretty sure they're deadlyView attachment 107326View attachment 107327
View attachment 109334 how long does it take chickens to grow? I took alittle bit from the end of the log that was father along to eat today. Pic was from yesterday.
I've eaten them the last several years. Nothing to get to excited for like a perch or your favorite beer on a hot day. Seems like any shroom is good with enough butter and salt. Pizza oven I built my folks is getting fired up for later.I’ll be interested to see what you think of it. I’ve never eaten one, but have heard they are great. Then again I heard the same thing about puffball... and that stuff is not for me!
Interesting. I did not know that about them. Maybe I'll start eating more of them. I'm the guy that walks past it.COW is a tasty mushroom. it's not close to a Chanterelle, imo, but very good if they are fresh, which is important. in my mind, there is more to consider than just taste when eating wild edibles, mushrooms especially. some stand alone well, some need to be used as an ingredient to a larger dish, but pretty much all of them are very nutritious COW's have a large dose of trace minerals and metals that most of us are probably deficient in, and they have remarkable anti-inflammatory properties as well. I've eaten enough of them for the last two years to notice that I feel better when I'm eating them regularly.
