Saw a hen appear out of some thick stuff to the left of the blind and walk over the hill.
Figured this is why she was in there. 14 eggs.

Heard good gobbling on the roost. I never made a peep. Just sat quite which is the most boring way to hunt turkeys. They still went the other way. Made a call at 915. He hammered back from his strut zone. Hung with it till 945. Checked him and sure enough still in the zone. Left him gobbling.

Very little gobbling this morning.Got 1 into 60 yds , hung up and strutted for bout 15 min . Moved on out the ridge . heard a gobble and some Jake yelps, figured I'd play with him awhile . And without much fanfare [get it ?] a pretty nice bird got there before the Jake .The a5 20 ga dropped him at 35 paces. 21 lbs 10 in. beard and inch spurs .

Fun start to the morning. My buddy was on the next point over with all the birds. Had one in but it spooked and he missed it. Shortly after I worked one in to about 75 yards. Thought he was coming but he suddenly turned and gobbled every step walking away. ListeningTo one now across the road. Looks like the last good morning for a while.
