Are/were these chanterelles? Spotted them about a week or so ago in a beech/oak woods
Ran out to grab it.looks a bit like Oyster mushroom, but the dark brown on the top is odd. cut one off and see if the underneath has gills.
According to the article attached below, eatable is not recommended when they are beyond a couple of weeks old, and/or this big. So, I suppose I'll just tosh it. Appreciate your help, thanks!looks like very old Pheasant Backs (Dryads Saddle) to me.
would be easier to chew your leather boots than those old dried up things. I ate some nice young ones this year for the first time. they are delicious. I'll start looking for them as soon as the Ramps are up next year. May is too late for these in my neck of the woods.
we've all got problems, my friend.I don't think I eat anything as much as you do shrooms. You eat more mushrooms than I drink beer. Bravo
