2022 SHROOMS

I didn't have good luck with it keeping good flavor doing it that way. Atleast pulling it out a few weeks later I thought it tasted like it was freezer burnt. Could have been the particular one I froze?

I need to make a hen log book for next year. Im starting to forget trees and stumps. Cemetery in town was loaded up with them this year all dry when i got to them though. I think theres more in yards and in town where old oaks still exist around here anyway.

Maybe set yearly reminders in your phone?? For morels up here in Michigan I always know it's time when my mushroom pics show up on FB as Memories from previous years.

Ill try it. These threads have been great for year to year timing. I think alot of them came up earlier than red reported his 1st which was almost 2 to 3 weeks different than pictures on my phone from last year. But its been dry as august here for a long time.

This is exactly why I start one every year.

It was on a big cottonwood limb along with a few more. I didn't pick it but it did seem fresh. Had some hens the other day that I had froze from last year. What I'm finding out is they are real watery after thawing. Does boiling them first help with the moisture when freezing?

Don't thaw them out. Go from freezer to pan or oven. I freeze them the size of my pan in a single layer, slide them in.
