Looks like berkeley or black staining polypores . Had to be a tree there once. At first I thought hens, to bad.

Looks like the BSPP to me too. It grows on a stump behind my shed every year but late July early August.

I found a pretty big Berkeley's today but it was a bit past its prime. The only one I've ever found.
