2025 Ice Season

Figured I’d start a new thread since it looks like we may actually have a decent ice season this year.

I got out today and did a little pond hopping. Caught some micro gills, and 25-30 stunted crappies. Still playing with the settings on this fancy fish finder, but getting the hang of it. Found an old barrel in my dad’s pond, other pic is a school of crappie I was chasing around.

I plan to pop my ice fishing cherry in the coming weeks w DrSS. You may be there too, Hunna?

Plan to be. Hope some more options are gonna be good to go by the end of next week or sooner…

Got out this am with Dr. FF, caught enough to keep. Decent perch and gills. Good beer on tap at the local bar. Formulating a plan for some eyes Wednesday…

I tell everyone this. If I die while ice fishing, I got murdered because I ain’t going out there on my own accord!

Dr. FF and I hit a semi-local reservoir this morning. According to shitty forum reports it had 4-5” of ice. According to what we found, it was 4-5” at best, some spots an inch and a half or less- definitely a pucker factor. We were hoping for saugeye, but only found crappie and white bass. Fished a few hours, built some stache-sicles, caught a few and decided wings and beers sounded better.
