2025 Shrooms

Took Maxx a walk on Wed and stumbled on a patch of Chants from hell. Went in today and someone beat me to it! Guarantee they got 10+ pounds. The woods honestly looked like an Easter egg hunt and they were all great looking!
I got the missed ones and left 60-80 I didn't want.

Very likely my last trip for Chanterelles was today. Got some real jumbos, too. Never found this many giant ones in one place at one time. Eat as many of these as I can, powder the rest.

The Great Black Swamp really kicks out some fungi! That log is above my knee cap. Was looking for hens and lions mane but might be a tad early. Some rain would help but none forecasted ten days out.

Treat them like chicken. I fried some up but didn’t really care for them. Probably because I didn’t do it right lol. When Jamie posts pics of his they look awesome. I should try again since the woods are filled with them right now.

my favorite way to eat them is deep fried. I treat them like fish. soak in egg/buttermilk/Franks wash, coat with my home-made dry fish fry coating. Deep fry for about 3-4 minutes until browned. They float in oil, so you have to keep turning them over. They were awesome sauteed and them on pizza with fresh Chanterelles. Also very good sauteed with garlic, shallots and fresh thyme ala Alan Bergo "The Forager Chef".
