44 Mag. Whitetail Bullet Chioces

I push a 44 cal 240gr XTP out of my muzzy and they're accurate as all getout and hit hard. Granted I'm pushing them at top speed and under 50 yards they have jacket seperation inside an animal. But they hit hard and kill. I think 180gr out of a pistol would be killer.
They hit hard moving slowly as well......I bought a bunch to reload for the .44 and muzzleloader hunt. I only use 70 grains of pyro for the muzzleloader I don't like getting belted and it's plenty of umfff to do the damage.

I give her the beans with 150gr of Triple 7 out of an Accura V2 LR with the 30 inch barrel. 🤣

What are the advantages of hard cast lead for deer vs the xtp?
I used to use lead bullets when I first started muzzleloading but have since switched to xtps with sabots. They both put deer down quickly and well with good shot placement but the xtps seem to make as larger wound channel which can ruin more meat with questionable to bad shot placement.
From Long Ago experience, a hard cast lead bullet will have little to no expansion on a white tail. You will typically get good penetration but you'll get about the same size entry and exit wounds. If you're going with a non-hollow point cast bullet, I'd suggest a Flat Nose - or a Wide Flat Nose bullet.

The 240 XTP works well for the 44 mag on deer. And if you handload it, it chambers easily in most lever actions.
