Myles got the advisor's approval to proceed with his self-defined 3D printing project, and barn setup continues.

Pens ran a week over on lead time but didn't impact anything thankfully, pigs come home next Sunday.

They're home, eating and drinking, but not happy about being in single pens. They're litter mates so they're stressed, cold, and in a new place. Fingers crossed both are alive tomorrow AM.

How they rode home:

Homemade hauler just needs the final touches, but it worked as intended and was made from 100% left over project items for free.

They need to be atleast 60lbs at min I feel to make the 210-280lb requirement for final weight on Mon 8/5. Even then that's pushing them hard, I hope they're heavier. My goal for him is a lean 250lbs +/- 10lbs, her around 230lbs. I think he'll be close to 75-80lbs this Sat., her barely over 60lbs. 89 days until weigh in, so plenty of time to adjust diet and exercise strategy. We're learning a lot and Ty is stepping up to the plate daily to make sure food, water, poop is managed.....with some gentle reminders🤨

Harder reminders will definitely come as it gets closer to fair lol. They'll start packing weight faster as the summer goes but with today's availability there's several finisher feeds to trim or pack them towards the end but the way they look now at least in the pictures I'd say you're off to a great start!

Myles's 3D Printing self-determined project has been approved🤘. We gave the printer a good breakdown and cleaning of critical parts on Thursday and he's off and running with getting a printed chess board and pieces started.

Pigs got their 2nd weigh-in today, and some fresh pens. Chomppers came in at 98lbs, Pepper at 81lbs. Thats a good 1.93lb ADG for him and 1.60lbs. for her. Trajectory is good, hopefully they continue to stay hungry. Puts him around 255/265 ( heavy weight class) and her hopefully 220/230 (lightweight class). The hardest challenge we have ahead is breaking the bond. She absolutely loses her mind if we take him out for a walk alone, he goes 30% as wild as she does when we take her alone. Together, one person can walk them wherever the hell they want lol. 72 days to break em...it's on!

Today should have been the 4th weigh-in for the hogs, but it's been a hot stressful week for em and decided to wait until next weekend.

Myles's 3D printer started to have a nozzle temp. failure, so he got an opportunity to research, diagnose, and find replacement parts to fix. Thankfully it was an easy fix with an easy replaceable part. He was down for 8 days but has made great progress on the set!

4th weigh-in was this past Sunday, and that is 36 days from fair weigh-in. Chomps is still on track @ 166lbs, Pepper lost some ground in that week of heat, coming in at 143lbs and runs the risk of not making the lowest weight of 210lbs, but that was an anticipated outcome. We'll continue to push her, but I'm liking the thought of her getting closer to my freezer every day. Better pics needed with his head up

Myles wrapped up printing his project last night and we got her broke in with the first game. I am so damn proud of this boy and this project. He has 100hrs. + in printing, now we get to experiment with secondary finishing for learning - dry sanding, wet sanding, flame melt, etc. He will be able to sell the set in the small projects auction, so looking to build a display board that will allow him to showcase and not worry about all the pieces moving/falling apart. It's made to be modular/travel, but for fair, something semi-permanant is needed.

Those pics got huge from when I saw them. Congrats all around

6lbs+/day along with some supplements = 2lbs average daily gain. Would love to see it bump up to 2.25-2.5 ADG these last 30 days, but I think it's gonna be tough. I don't think her frame can carry it, or carry it well eithwr unless she gets a height and length growth spurt at the same time.

Book/skill-a-thon judging is complete and both boys came away with an A on their projects. Myles landed on silver out of 11 in the self-determined category, and was 1of2 that got Outstanding recognition. First place was an animation project and Myles was happy with how it shook out! He received his State Fair invite, but will pass along to someone who can attend.

Ty continues to put in the hard work, and we are really pushing both pigs hard now. Chomps has broken 200lbs and is on a good course to make weight. Pepper on the other hand continues to struggle to add the 2+lbs daily gain and its going to be a photo finish for her to make the 210lb limit. I don't expect she will, so he'll still be able to show both, Chomps in lightweight division and Pep in underweight. If she's under, she's coming home for a fall/winter butchering.

The trailer is done (minus some badging), the name plates are complete and hanging, the waterer clamps have arrived, only thing left is to wrap up the tack box. Final 2w stretch🤘

Adam its so crazy the difference in timing of your fair and ours.

My daughter has been working on her books.

We get our market chickens (chicks) on Aug 1 and our meat rabbits Aug 5.

I know our fair is the second last in the state, do you know where yours is ?
