any rain

We mowed at the farm and boy was it dry! This is going to be a rough summer on all counts. I may hang a camera over our pond this year to see if the deer drink out of it because the creek is all but dried up...

USDA ratings for corn condition declined this week. It's dry over a large area.

Farmers around here are pretty worried about rain as well. It's getting around to losing a bushel per acre per day we don't get rain. Its been a long time since I've seen beans this spotty in the fields. Guys are wanting to replant but don't have any moisture in the ground to do it. My prediction is a really early harvest again like 2 years ago but without the good yields

Spent the last couple of days driving 700 miles around the state. After seeing the rest of the state I can't complain about my crops.

Most of the corn around here is 6 foot tall and looks fine. But with this hundred degree heat they'll need rain soon. There is a 20% chance forecasted every day next week

I went through Springfield, down there the corn is ready to tassel. By the looks of everything around it's very dry. Tasseling is the worst time for corn to experience hot and dry.

Kind of off topic, but be careful with fireworks. Its that time of year and everything is so damn dry. My dad brought some up to let off after the game last night and we decided against it. Didn't want to risk a brush fire.

Amazing enough, the big storm on Friday did not bring a lot of rain with it. However the storm last night dumped it in buckets. They are expecting more rain tomorrow as well, so we're in much better shape than we were a week ago today...

Good to hear! I was worried that I would get home and my plots would be toast!

We missed getting any rain the last couple of days. We missed the wind many of you guys got and for the I'm thankful. But if rain doesn't come real soon some of the local crops are toast.
