Anyone ever buy or sell a shoulder mount

A guy I work with asked me today if I would consider selling any of my deer mounts. Not sure why anyone would want a deer shot by someones else, but whatever.
I do have a few of my first mounts which I don't have any real attachment to. They have been sitting on the floor in the storage room since they lost their place on the wall anyhow.
I have no idea what would be a fair price. I looked on eBay and all I saw there was pretty much old junk priced all over the place.

I hung them back up and attached a few pics of the ones I would consider selling to show they are still in near perfect shape. The first one is ~120 and the other ~130.

Anybody have any input? Thx.

Put them up in the garage or keep them for when you build a hunting lodge or something. I've got an old billiards trophy I could maybe sell, not a deer though. Those are mine and they stay in my family. If I was to ever part with anything like that, I'd give it to some kid and money would have nothing to do with it.

To each their own though, I guess. Feels weird to even think about, lol.

YOu might try sending a PM to Buckslayer. I believe he dabbles in buying and selling some taxidermy and sheds.

Personally, I'd have trouble parting with mine. Although I have one at the taxidermist right now and not sure where I will be putting him. A house addition to make our garage a 3 car garage with heated floors and trophy room/man cave over head has been discussed. I haven't tried to figure the cost of the project yet but it sounds like $40-50k for what I want to do (if I had to guess). Maybe this is why I haven't tried to figure the costs? lol

I bet I have 50 billiard trophy's in my moms attic. Half have Dad's name on them, half are mine. Probably another dozen big ass team Bar trophy's. So I wont totally hijack here, I know there is a market for deer mounts. A lot of people like to hang them in businesses or man caves whether they shot them or not. From what I have seen, the bigger the antlers, the higher the price, as long as it's quality work. AS others said, no way would I take a loss on what I paid for them

I did sell about 25 APA billiards trophies in a garage sale once. They do sell. I did keep my Vegas plaque.

Bottom line is....everything sells.

I've seen a couple mounts for sale but never a real big one or one in great condition. Seems like they were small bucks and looked a little rough for $100 or less.

I'd start with what you would want in order to let go of it. If you'd be pleased with 100 bucks, sell it for that. If you have to have at least 250 sell it for 250. I think the "value" of anything is more about what the sellers willing to let it go for and what the buyer is willing to pay. If these two numbers are close there's a sale and if not there isn't.

I think this is what I'll do, but just let him offer first. If it is half-way reasonable I'll just take it. I'd rather someone get some enjoyment out of them as opposed to them just getting dusty in the storage room.
I showed him the pics today and he thought they looked good. He also said he had no idea what they would be worth so would spend some time looking into it. Who knows, I'll probably still have them next year!

What did you get for them? Were they smaller individuals with your name or something different? I would never sell the big team trophy's, but Dad nor I ever cared about the small trophy's or point money. It was reward enough winning the league 24 out of 25 sessions and having everyone despise you, haha

I gave 1 of my early mounts that has no importance to me any longer to my father in law to put in his cabin up north. Still hanging in his garage, he says he likes it there.
