I want to see what is in it and document it. I don't want to alter it at all if possible. I want to see what all kinds of bones are in it mostly. I know for sure already this one has had sheep taken in by pieces until nothing was left but some chunks of wool.
If I wanted to destroy it, I'd surly be able to do that with ease...
I'm gonna say once you start digging it open so you can get in they are going to fly the coop. And leave the den. Good luck.

Maybe I should call the local GW to see what all I can and can't do before I go getting myself into trouble…
"Hold my beer and watch this" comes to mind...
Haven't met you. Really don't know you. You are either crazy, stupid, or looking for attention. I hope you don't get yourself hurt. I do like the idea behind it. Just a thought: strap a goPro on an RC car to do this task. Don't go getting yourself hurt. You seem alright from what I have seen on TOO so far.
Just an observation from a guy who doesn't really know you. Throwing out what it seems like from an.outsiders perspective. Just hate to see you get hurt if it could be avoided. Wasn't meaning any disrespect. Actually figured you might be proud to claim "crazy". Most of us are proud of our crazy side. Lol
So, coyotes are runners and scared of people huh? Like I said I have caught a few of them and some are wimps but you get a big alpha male cornered in his den I doubt if he is just going to roll over and let ya pet him. I have had a few snared that wanted to chew my ass and damn sure am not stupid enough to try and craw in a little hole to see what they have been up to. A better idea, kill all the fuggers and then see what they have been eating. Not gonna feel sorry for ya if they rip ya a new one but I might get your wife a tshirt made that says: I'm with stupid. LMAOI've actually put a fair amount of thought into this. An RC car that would work in such terrain and through the ground, is out of my price range. My original thought was to send a dog in with a camera, but I don't know of any dogs that would go into an active den. Like I said, this isn't for the thrill or any other crazy bs. I'm into this for what kind of information it might reveal about our dwindling deer herd. I've been joking around about it on here, but I seriously don't see how I could get hurt. I'll have a gun out in front of me for any real danger. Coyotes are runners and scared of people. I understand that I'll be backing it into a corner, but I don't plan to give it much of a chance to think things over. I might fit the bill for being crazy, I doubt many would agree with stupid and even less would agree that I go looking for attention, lol.
Thought.
Since we know the animal will be freaking out, disturbing the natural distribution of subject matter; such as a nesting corner or other interesting "floor plan" use of the den it would seem to me that going in and cornering it will only result in a completely useless study of a tore-up dirt bowl of a den. To validate your desire to study the den will require the removal of the yote using a method that will cause the least impact to the interior of the den wither it be by initial digging, shooting while on the surface or backing a 4 wheeler up to the hole and running a hose down the hole from the exhaust...
The sound of that gun going off 1/2 way into the hole will be defining TOO.
You were evidently born 35 years to late.
Ever hear of the "Tunnel Rats" from Vietnam ?
