I've had this for a while but the firing was broken when I got it. It's repaired now and ready for action. I'll break it in on squirrels this fall.
1898 German Mauser from WW1. After WW1 Germany was not permitted to make much in the way of firearms so they did a lot of conversions on surplus WWI 1898 Mausers in 8MM. I've seen and had 12 ga. single shot conversions in the past but when I seen this 28 ga. conversion come along I snatched it up. What is very unusual is that it's has a 2 round magazine converted from the 8MM magazine well. Making it a 3 shot. It weighs 5.7 lbs. and came with sling swivels attached.
Better yet my friend Doc shoots 28 ga. skeet so he gave me 3 boxes of reloads and more when I need them. This one is a keeper and I'll pass it along to my grandsons.
