Does anyone know why ohio is a 6 deer state unless you hunt public land then it's a 2 deer state in most county's? I think they changed it a little this year with deer management tags,but I'm not sure.called local warden,but I haven't heard back

Public land needed managed differently. No reason the Amish (or anyone) could go in and decimate the herd in a week. Leave some for the rest of the people.

It also makes it hard to recruit new hunters when they don’t see deer sit after sit. Bird watchers/hikers/bikers all the people that utilize public land were being robbed by the handful of people raping the land.

Oh I get that,my season ended last year on November 1st ,shot a doe on public ,then 300miles away ,a month later I filled my buck tag . Sounds like I'm bitchin .bitter sweet season. Nothing better than sitting in the woods for our mental health . Not gonna pay for a lease,got to much money invested now lol.

I didn’t take it as bitching. I think my post was more about bitching. Let’s see this public land buck and hear the story! We love that kind of stuff around here. Isn’t an inch contest here at TOO. We like the stories and the hunter to be proud and happy.

I Got down n shit ,blind grunted him in about 300yds away 20 minutes later ,came in on a string,12 yds .he went 150 yds . 20 yds front of a ground blind I didn't know was there, my buddy seen 2 guys walk out 10 min before I shot him. I thanked the lord no one was in it. 208# hanging

I'm 48 bowhunting religiously since I was 12 in northern Michigan. My largest buck ,luck that I didn't fill my buck tag earlier in the season. It was the first buck in range, I dont often pass up meat because of antlers

The 6 deer is your entire state bag limit. If you shoot 2 on public land (a buck and a doe) you can still shoot 4 more deer on private land, assuming you stay within the county-specific bag limits.
