Personally, I love it! If it just doesn’t fit your taste and you can’t stand to look at it, just drop it off at my place. If that’s too big a pain, I’ll come pick it up. 😁

You fuggen painted it?! View attachment 101838

can't help myself, David. it's what I do. changing things up keeps it interesting. besides, everything about this project screams utility. I've beaten a good many pretty bows to death over the years. and it's not like anyone is going to see me using it for its intended purpose, anyway. pretty bows don't shoot any better than practical ones. trust me, the deer don't care how much time I spend on the finish work.

Sorry. It’s yours, you do what you want. I was just here for the woodwork and you stabbed me in the heart! I’m back on track now, only cost me a few tears. Sorry again for getting lost. That is what I do. I couldn’t help myself😂

while I'm waiting on finish I got on with my two tool handles today. posted this on the "cool old stuff" thread, but it belongs here. turned some firewood into blanks., removed meat mallet and hatchet from their old handles. soaking heads in vinegar, and I drew up the profiles for my hatchet handle. cut it out tomorrow.

side and front profiles for hatchet. I'll just trace the profiles of the mallet handle and make it just like the old one.

I’m sure you’ve forgotten more than I’ll ever know about building bows...but I have some advice...whenever I put camo on my bows, I’d use ferns as stencils and spray paint over them. Comes out pretty good. I’m just suggesting it because you said you weren’t happy with the camo job. Black and green paint worked well for me.👍

Sarge, I've done a little spray painting, too. ;) I've used various leaves for stencils. was going for a different look than that, but ferns do make for a cool pattern.

I upset people occasionally. when I do it on purpose, I'm just fine with it, but when I do it by accident, I feel bad about it. I barely slept last night thinking of how disappointed Giles was with my bow painting. let me assure you that this is just a little side trip off the beaten path. hope this makes you feel better. I gots a lots of bows with no paint on them. even killed something with all but a few of them.

me funny always, people dense. no get me. :ROFLMAO:

getting this handle roughed out went better than I expected. found a couple of worm holes, but I'll run some c/a glue in them. no problem. I hope fitting the head on this goes as well as shaping the handle. fits my hand very nicely.
