I've hike in my Mucks once...never again. They aren't really made for that. I think they're mostly a light duty barn boot. I'd recommend some nice boots made for what you're using them for.
For years I've went with Lacrosse. The last pair I picked up are the Lacrosse Alphaburly Pro 1600g. Had them now for I believe 4 years and this year was the first time I noticed I have a good leak in the right one and a very small leak in the left one. Probably briars poking through the rubber coating I would imagine as I don't notice til I'm over ankle deep. Frustrating because they aren't cheap but I have put a lot of miles on them and the rest of the boot has held up just fine. I have an older pair that I still wear, probably 12+ years old simply because they are comfortable. They too got snagged and started leaking later in their life. None of them have had problems with the soles.
Lacrosse has a spray on preserver that really keep my hip boots looking brand new and you know how they like to deteriorate.Same here. Lacrosse alpha burleys. A pair will last me about 4-5 years of both deer and Turkey hunting and i'm hard on them. They never leaked at the seams but would eventually develop a crack on the top of the foot where it flexes. But after 4-5 years that's to be expected.
Got steel toe for work , kept feet warm and dry , not damn bit of traction thoughI've hike in my Mucks once...never again. They aren't really made for that. I think they're mostly a light duty barn boot. I'd recommend some nice boots made for what you're using them for.
Didn’t dryshod start mucks and improved with dryshod? My wife just bought a pair of Steady Yeti. Very insulated, ice grip and appear well made. She just got them so I have no idea how they hold up. Great reviews though.
The bad reviews for Mucks come from the models where there is foam attached to rhe rubber. I stick with the Chore model to avoid the foam.
