I had some other things to spray so I went ahead and did the finish on the bows at the same time
This was my first attempt at spraying epoxy.
I have a lot to learn!
I really cleaned the shop before spraying and covered all the tools
But using the HPVL system there was not much over spray
I kept the shop at 60. Using the wood burner and kerosene
I still have it at 60 .
Spraying was more difficult than I thought and will change a few things
Well I know it has been awhile but I tuned up the completed bow this morning . I made some major mistakes trying to finish the bows and had to strip them twice. The second time I mixed the same part of epoxy , instead of mixing A and B I mixed A and A. What a mess
I bare shaft tune at 15 yards the idea being to get both bare shaft and fletched shaft to group together . My first groups looked like this
Which indicates a weak spine I dropped from a 125 grain head to a 100 grain and my groups started looking like this
The bow looks like this
It seems to shoot well, the handle is a little small. It came in at 51 pounds @ 28"
The finish on the limbs is muddy because the chemical I stripped with yellowed the glass.
It is time to build another! We leaned allot on these first ones and I really think the next. 2 will be awesome bows
