Briggs carb swap

Joe may have something, looks a lot like the carb that was on an old generator we had. Seal between the tank and carb went and was sucking air there. Sealed it up and it started/ran fine. Only way we could get it started was to dump gas in the carb or spark plug hole.

Yep. New gasket between. I'll torque the bolts little bit more.
Don't hork em down too tight and bust one off. Maybe just add a little gasket maker to it before tightening down. Blow through that pickup nozzle to see what kind of flow it has. Is the long thing beside it some form of float apparatus. Ie shoves up a needle valve like a bowl float dies?
