I recognize the scenery in those pics
It’s not often you find a woodlot where it’s inhabited by mostly fox squirrels like that from my experiences. Seems my areas are usually mostly grays with a few fox sprinkled in.

It isn’t mostly fox squirrels. I would guess from sightings there are at least 5x the number of grays. They are just too jumpy to sit in a tree long enough to get shot through the head it seems. Those silly fox squirrels think they can hide.

I’ve been pretty well crippled up for several weeks so we haven’t had the pups out. Got some Percocet yesterday, steroids and other crap too. Felt pretty good today so Mason and I took the pups across the road for a couple hours. After knocking off the rust, they lit the place up. Lots of rabbits out today. Mason took his bow, missed two but not by much. I missed one also and killed another with a shotgun. Absolute blast listening to the dogs. Funny that when we first got them I tried to give them away. That would have been a mistake. These two are going to be great as they mature.

We have a few weeks left. We had better get together to run the lil hounds. They are getting to the point it wouldn’t be embarrassing. Still learning, but greatly improved.

The kid about got me today. We both shot well and had a good time. I beat him by just two points. And, he beat every other shooter in the known 40 class. Not bad for a 15 year old kid!

Took the pups out for a short hunt this afternoon. They ran three. I killed one. They ran a deer too but came off when called. Speaking of deer. Found a dead one.

Seriously though, he’s had a great teacher and mentor to teach him the correct way and him having that competitive nature you’re gonna have your hands full!

No it isn’t that one. The guy I bought that gun from told me he wanted it back. But that was a long time ago and he hasn’t shown up with any money...

It happened. Mason has passed me by and placed first in the K-40 class today. He shot a 207 using IBO scoring on 20 targets. There is a man named Tony that shoots very similar scores to me. He said he felt like he could do no wrong today and shot a great round only to find out he’d been beaten by a 15 year old. Haha. It’s a big day for Mason. Hopefully the first of many.
