I had an awesome hunt this morning, but didn't see anything I wanted to shoot. There was a small buck in the field as I climbed into my stand. He spooked a lil, trotted off maybe 100 yards or so, and just as it got light enough to see he came back to see what the heck was up the tree. He never did figure it out and continued on his way. Shortly after, a doe and fawn came right under my stand. I snapped a pic, but had my phone on "red-eye" and caught the doe's attention with the preliminary flash. She spooked a little too, but not bad. Jumped a couple of times and walked off. Saw to more does, each with two fawns in tow. That excites me a lot... I've seen multiple fawns this year, and over the last four or five years I've seen about three adult does for every fawn! I can't help but wonder if the late winter coyote work has actually helped? I also saw a nice 2 1/2 year old. He hung around a while and ate in the cut corn field a bit. Took a couple of pics w my phone, one through my rangefinder. BTW, he gave all kinds of shot opportunities at 40-45 yards. Hope to see him in a couple years! Great hunt, can't wait till tomorrow to do it again!
Add ten more to my season's total sightings. Bout forgot...saw a bobtail squirrel too!
