Glad you found him. By the angle of the bolt that's in him it looks like his ass was almost straight on with your buddy, that's a pretty risky shot IMO.

Glad you found him. Hard to believe there was zero blood with the gaping hole in him.
That's what I was thinking?!? With a hole that massive on the lower side I'm so suprised! But hey congrats on finding him and sticking to it!

That would have taken out the diaphragm, (the thin muscle between the liver and the lungs) without that, they can do breathe. The diaphragm contracting and expanding is what inhale and exhales air from the lungs.

I figure there wasn't much blood due to the fat in the area of the entrance, would have acted as a sort of plug.

Glad you found him.

I've hit one like that before walking away from me,the deer didn't go 30yds. and fell over,,,I can't imagine it going a 100yds.,,WOw they are tough critters
