It was kinda a neat deal. It seemed important at the time to get that done while dad was still here to see it. My kid was with me that day too so it’s a good memory.

LMAO I can remember taping tooth pics to the front of my first hunting bow in the meantime til I got all the wood split I needed to so my dad would give me my sight and quiver!!

My first sight was a piece of 8 gauge wire I bent into a circle and mounted on the bow. Lol. It worked.

I picked up pop bottles out of the ditch along country roads and returned for the nickel deposit money. Saved enough for a Merrill 4pin site from the local archery shop. Mounted it on a Bear Polar two compound. Became a instant Robin Hood. That was 1974 I believe.

My best group with the Ironwood. Between 12 and 20 yards. I very seldom shoot two shots from the same spot unless I shoot a bad one. This bow is 48# 60 inches long. Douglas fir arrows 540gr

Had to go back out with the Longbow. Love this bow! 44#. 62 inches

Mason left a target face on the big block. It’s clear I’m not ready to win Vegas. It’s funny how a target you are not accustomed to shooting can absolutely destroy confidence. Still, all dead deer.

Nah. They are only there for looks, and to me they look fine.
That is good stuff. I have not shot one arrow since November 15. Have had no desire to, either, until this week. I started my own personal re-education camp yesterday. Retraining my brain to focus on my back tension instead of “aiming”. I’ll be training as much as I can until surgery, then I’ll have to take a couple of weeks off. I need to shoot more than I have been able to for the last couple of years. I miss it. I’ll be working less and able to save my shoulders and back for shooting. I’ll be getting back in the shop as well. I see another new old man bow in my future, too.

One advantage or maybe disadvantage to shooting three under… it is evident when you pluck a shot not only at the target but often times on the end of your beak as well.
