If ND hadn’t gotten bent over and reamed for 4 whole quarters I’d be on board with your “merit” point Joe. Just sayin’!

Regardless of the outcome of that game, or how shitty they played a 10-1 season with only 1 loss to #3 beats a 6-0 season every day. Merit is Merit. Maybe they should have sat the game out like Ohio state did half the season and finished 10-0 then. Even then 10-0 still beats 6-0. No sense risking it and actually playing if it can only hurt you.

This is the whole problem with this CFP subjective bullshit. It's turned in to nothing more than some bachelorette reality show BS and has nothing to do with who deserves it or earned it.

Go Bucks!!!!! 😂😂😂😂

Goes to show there's nothing to stand on except fanboy opinion. Some of us actually care about teams earning a shot at a title and being judged on their performance on the field, no matter the name of the team. Without that validity a title isn't worth a thing.

This more than ever proves that no matter what a team accomplished they can never earn their way to the CFP title games unless they're a household name and bring a bunch of fans to the table. The CFP should be changed to the Corrupt Football Playoffs. The G5 should also create their own title games and play them.

Sooooooo, just to be clear, if OSU played 3-4 more weaker than average teams and won then you’d be on board with them being in the playoffs?

Like that’s not a really impressive list of teams...

Isn't that what they do every year anyway? And haven't they lost on multiple occasions to those weaker team's. BYU, Penn St, Iowa, Michigan St, just to name a few. And haven't they sustained injuries playing those games that would likely put their roster in par with teams that played 10 games. Weaker or stronger is a nonissue. "Played" is the key word.

The only reason A&M isn't sitting there today is because they didn't pussy out of their game against Alabama, played the game and took a loss. And no matter how we look at it, that ain't right. That isn't fair, and it calls to question the entire validity of the title process.

Come on Ric! Your not gonna win this just like Bama doesn’t repeat!!!!

We all want the same thing, the best team to win. And play the best team to beat. In the end I want to see the very best play for the title and in order for that to take place we will need an extended team playoff! Not just 4 teams!
The bearcats deserve a chance this year!!! As much as A&M!

Doubling down on a failed system rife with subjective opinion isn't the answer. The best way is to not rank a single team until game 6 and let the teams performance stand on its own. Yards per carry, strength of schedule, first down conversions, red zone percentage, all of It, right down to number of punts. Remove the human bias, take the top two and let them play for the title.

seems like a half way reasonable means to size up every single team to me. I wonder why the NFL doesn't already do that?

Grass is black.

Nope. Just looking pretty pitiful.

Even the NFL system is still better because they take all 8 division champions across both conferences and w/l record rank the first 1-4, then wildcard the next 3. In essence taking 7 of the 8 and have a playoff system after that.

If the CFP wanted to do the same then we should take 9 of the top 10 conference champions and rank them by w/l record and that's the playoff system. Get rid of in season rankings. That would be more fair than this subjective bias BS we have now.

Then you have no business objectively talking football. If a person can't remove bias and look at merit then your opinion on the subject isn't worth a penny. I won't sit here and tell you that Bama is the best team in the nation, what I will tell you is it's undeniable that they earned a chance to show they are. Which is more than can be said for OSU this year only playing 6 games, and that's just the cold hard facts of it. I want the best team in the nation to win. If the playoff system is subjective and bias then no matter who wins that can't be rightfully claimed, especially if they should have never been there in the first place.

it used to be the case that the biggest part of the fun of talking football, for the average football fan, HS, College or professional, is rooting for and defending your team against rival fans no matter how bad or good they actually are. good natured ribbing. this is entertainment for all us who have never played sports beyond high school. all of this is really much less important than we make it out to be. I mean, do I really give a fuck who is or isn't the "best" team in college football? no, I do not. it was fun for a long time, now it really isn't fun, not for me, anyway, since politics have weaseled their way into student athletics. y'all can have it. I'm going hunting. or watching snow melt or something.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter one iota. As I'm fond of saying "they don't sign my check or suck my dick". But it's a damn shame that we have unpaid student athletes across the nation who are pouring their heart and soul into games and seasons only to be snubbed by a bias system to crown a " champion". It's become a popularity contest based on ratings and money and has nothing to do with the kids who are out there competing for nothing more than the dream of making a better life for themselves.
