Uhm scheduled for my 2nd Pfizer shot in 2 1/2 weeks - very little reaction to first shot - gulp

That's normal bud. What people are experiencing with the second shot is an immune system response. The first shot allows you to build some immunity to the spike proteins. When the second shot happens your body produces an immune response. Most of the symptoms that people feel when they get sick from anything isn't the actual virus but rather their own immune system. Fever is the body's natural way of fighting because many virus cells require certain temperature parameters, your immune system elevates your temperature to thrive. This also causes chills. The soreness and aches are caused from the body producing a crap ton of white blood cells which uses a bunch of energy and causes inflammation. Since the shot isn't a virus capable of replicating the immune response should be fairly short.

Jackalope....great info and I appreciate it...getting my 1st shot Friday...72 and still apprehensive about getting the shot, but my little wife is a nurse so have no choice.....in the past 15 years after what I have seen I trust very little that is happening in this country....I watch no tv anymore and feel somewhat uninformed, but when I did watch tv I felt misinformed so I don’t watch....I do trust you!!!!

Well that wasn't all that fun. Fever , chills, shivering all started shortly after midnight. Body ached, teeth hurt. Didn't sleep much. Starting to feel a little more normal now at the 25 hr mark. Can't imagine going through that for days and weeks.
I’m getting out the doghouse now. Had the same symptoms as you. Called into work this morning and told them I’m not working today. These second round vaccinations wasn’t any fun. I’m still not right, lightheaded and a little dizzy as my sinuses are lit up.

Seems like Moderna is the one causing all the issues, right?

The second shot causing symptoms is normal and by design. It's supposed to trigger an immune response which will cause things like fever, soreness, nausea, chills etc. Both contain an agent to boost immune response also.

This is how I understand it too. You WANT a reaction. You want to know your immune system is working. Seems a bit weird to me. 1-4 days sick from the vaccine. Potential side effects up to and including death from the vaccine. Or. . . Chance the virus. Might die. Might not know you have it. Might be somewhere in between. Not judging anyone. Make the choice that suits you. I'm holding off.

Interesting take.

If you look just at Ohio, roughly the same number have been vaccinated as those who have actually had the virus, Of those who had the virus almost 12,000 have died and about 48,000 have been hospitalized. I don't know that anyone in Ohio or anywhere else has been hospitalized or died from the vaccine. Maybe Joe can calculate the p value for us.
