Coyotes 2013

David's Yotes.jpg

This is a pic of a couple fellas first double catch. Guy on the right is my boss. He wanted to snare yotes so I took him in some snares and got him started. This is his #3 and 4 Coyote. Two other yotes were shot during gun season by them.

Went out coyote hunting with a buddy tonight. I took my muzzleloader and he had a .243. First set he missed one at 175 yards. Second set I missed one at 100. And on the 3rd set we almost had a red fox but just couldn't get a shot off. Got skunked on the last 2 sets. We are both new at this, give it time. Between hunting them and the snares I got out I'm bound to get a few. Hopefully it snows again soon:D

Awesome!!!^^^ First thing i ever called in was a red fox and i missed him with a .22. I was bit bad and have spent a ton of money on guns and callers since!!! Just remember that you need a furtaker permit for the fox.

What calls were you using?

That's what I thought about the fur take permit for anything other than coyotes right?

We were using a coyote howler and rabbit distress mouth calls. He has the fur taker permit and was lined up too shoot the fox but I happened to be sitting to his left off to the side and he didn't want to shoot past me.

Had a Real Good Time with Brian (Boarhead) today. Nice talking about old friends and seeing how someone else does it first hand. I learned several handy things today. Brian is a real good guy if you've not met him yet.

Will coyotes eat another coyote? Say if I throw the carcass out will other yotes eat it?
Yes they will especially in this type of weather.I pitched one in a weed patch that was all rubbed out last week and they ate it up in the last week. They will pretty much eat anything.Have seen them eat apples and corn off of bait sites also.

Sweet, I'm going to put the carcass right where I had a deer gut pile. I have 3 snares set on 3 different trails leading to it, all are 15-30 yards away from it. That's how I caught my first one.

Had some fresh tracks on the property. Sunday I set 2 snares at the farm..... Got this male today. Funny part is, tried out the new pellet gun on him. This is one Bad Mo Fo! One shot thru the lungs~~Game Over!

.177 Gamo Bone Collector Pellet Rifle 1300 fps. and will take out a yote!
