Did you ask permission?

Nope I figured since their grandson was already 6 months old they really wouldn't care. All in all I got a great FIL. He has been like a second father to me and I look up to him alot. Plus he is a really funny guy.
Looking back I actually stated to my FIL that I was going to ask her. It is kinda strange the type of relationship we have.

Two days later, I proposed on the back of a four-wheeler! Didn't even get on one knee AND I prefaced it with: "Before I go any further, you do understand that deer hunting is my first love and will always be of the upmost importance to me right?!?"I'm such a romantic!!!

I never asked. The day we left for California, to live in sin, I told my wifes Dad that I was serious about his daughter and planned on asking her to marry me and that if things didn't work out I'd make sure she got back to Ohio OK. I really didn't care whether he approved or not.

her dad hasnt been around since she was 2. we lived together for 10 years before we got married. the whole "permission" thing never really came into it.
