I hate @Dustinb80 he has ruined my dumbass dog. Oakley has hit the teenage stage...he thinks he doesn’t have to listen and is overpowered by the smell of leftover rib juices. About to go to the store and add a different kind of juice to the situation! I’m just glad I’m home to deal with this...the wife isn’t as stubborn as I am. I will win this battle 😂

Haven't updated in a while, but things are going well with the pups. Bailey is still the better retriever out of the gate, but is more stubborn. Gunnar is a big baby as evidenced by this pic. But he's showing promise in training. He's more obedient, but less driven and instinctual than Bailey. But he loves dad more than her and is more eager to please. I can work with that. He is twice as dense structurally as Bailey and is built for battle. If I can get him in front of a crippled goose, he'll fuck it up for sure. I'm excited to see him progress, but he's still #2 in the draft. I'll go with instinct and drive to retrieve until he shows me the same style.

Once he matures a bit, I bet Gunnar will be a rock star in training. Those loveable, snuggling, eager to please dogs are a breeze once you figure out what trips their trigger. The stubborn hard drivers will do some amazing things, but you best believe they're gonna make you work for it as a trainer, especially once they mature and get a mind of their own. Betty is this way... Couldn't care less about affection, just wants to do work and get birds. Couldn't care less about praise. Having worked with quite a few dogs I sometimes get the urge to keep a pup with that eager to please meathead personality. Sometimes the fire breather dogs make you wish you had a narcoleptic dog instead. There's always some give and take no matter the dog. You just do the best you can with the canvas you're given. It's really cool that you have two pups at the same time and are able to see the personality contrast immediately.

What about a dog with no Fuggs given? Zero desire to please, zero desire for attention. Food driven is all. Stubborn ass will do anything you ask if you have the treat jar. If not, he’s deaf! Doesn’t even lift his head when you call his name😡

I’m other words, he has the rest of the family trained...he knows the commands and I refuse to be part of that.

A little shock therapy should turn things around. Your problem is like most with families. Kids and wife give a command and don’t enforce it, dog learns to just do what he wants....indirectly letting him be a fucking cat lol.

It’s about to happen. I told Jesse last night that it was going to start next week...it’s up to the dog if it’s in the bathtub or not. 😂
