Downed trees

How much is too much brush on the ground? The previous owner had the property timbered around 3 years ago. They left all the tops and some pretty big chunks around. My wife keeps saying it is a fire hazard. I keep telling her they are a couple years from being dirt and they aren't a problem. They are right at the edge of the tree lines. I don't think they are worth pulling out at this point. Thoughts? What say you?

Are deer using them? That would be my question and then my answer.

Leave them. They would fall apart at this point anyways.

If you were wanting to ever plant fruit trees. Plant them in the middle of one of those tree tops. This will protect them from the deer eating them.

Leave them for habitat. Cut them up if you want firewood or exercise.
