I have walked alot of timber and I've never seen anything like this. One side of the tre is worn smooth will the grooves from the brow tines are deep! Half inch deep. Anyone ever seen anything like this? Maybe he was stuck on the tree?
This side of the tree is almost polished. Like from the inside of a deer rack. The other side is grooved as if from brow tines.Bobcat?
That looks like lightening to me.I found TOO trees next to each other that I think a bobcat hit. You can see 3 distinct marks down the tree equally apart. Don’t know what else it could be.View attachment 189637
That tree is about as big as a man’s thigh and was torn up on the one side so bad that it eventually killed the tree.That looks like lightening to me.
It’s right by one of my stands and I’ve been watching it over the years. It used to be much more evident, but like when people carve names in trees, the scar widens and distort over time. That pic is about 3-4 years after I discovered it. Just a guess though.I see, so the old marks are what you are talking about. Tree is dead and bark has peeled away from the trunk.
