Extra money

My wife never really worked until a few years ago. The extra money she makes she wants to keep. But she is working with special needs kids and comes home crying at least once a week. I hate it. Kills me to see her like that but she feels like she needs to contribute to the household. It's only $20,000 a year but she has summer off and can take the kids to and from school. She just mentioned to me about finding something she can do from home. Anyone doing anything like this as an extra? Couple hours a day kind of thing for some spending cash. She refuses to just quit and searching things like this only seems to bring up pyramid type sales. She also said that if I start another business that she would leave me, lol. Because that was my suggestion. I could open an excavating or dump truck business and she could run the books. I could even teach her how to bid jobs. That just isn't something I can talk her into right now. Any ideas? Feel free to PM me or post it up for others to have ideas.

Does she like kids? She could do in-home day care. With that she could still be at home with the kids during the summer. My wife watched a few kids while our kids were young.

Clean out your pole barn … Have a daycare maybe 5-10 kids a week 50 a pop . They bite ya 100 bucks They shit them selves they disqualified…

Another idea I’ve been milling around Is like some type of camp say 1 day or weekend . Each month Where kids learn how to disconnect from the digital world .

Then learn something real. Parents involved yes it would cost money.

Depending on how many kids ya have and age bracket could be something like build a fort each side then have a paintball match or air soft ….

Learn how to cook off open fire or make a tent by tarp and rope.

Not sure I just know there’s a lot of parents out that that wish they could get there kids to disconnect and do something.

As well as a lot of parents with no clue how to do out door stuff.

I guess the sky is the limit on this .

just my thoughts. Could be at different parks etc etc dunno

But have it set up towards some type of grand finals at summers end .
Do things in teams make them have to strategize etc etc .

Guess my thoughts are a little more thought based for boys.

Someone figures it out tho I believe it would be lucrative and fun to do. I would say 90 percent of parents would agree kids need more of something than phones and Xboxes.

I would think that some things like HR departments are ran from home now. But I just don't know anything about this kind of thing. I can't be home, I gotta leave and go to work. Just how I am programed. So this is new territory that I have zero experience with. So I need some ideas to research before selling it to her.

I would suggest searching for jobs on Indeed if she hasn't already, but she should also reach out to your local OhioMeansJobs. I've noticed more and more part-time remote jobs on Indeed lately and OMJ is there to help people find options. Not all counties are the same, but our OMJ is really good at pairing people with the right opportunities.

See...this is where my smart ass sense of humor used to get me into trouble.....I'd post something mildly inappropriate and Dave would kick my ass next time he saw me.

So, being absolutely serious....could she run a teaching class for adults focusing on something she knows very well? For example, my gf used to run a cooking class and educate people on how to cook and how to shop for food and make that food go farther.

I would suggest she look at her skill set and identify things that she can do that others can't and leverage that into a chance for education. Another example that almost any of us on here could do is educate people on how to skin, gut, quarter and process wild game.

Its one thing to watch a video online, its another to have someone there who can answer your questions and show you what you're doing wrong.

I think…don’t quote me but school substitutes don’t need a degree or anything, just a clean background check. It’s nice because you can choose to work the day or not.

Just looked into it. A classroom sub does require a degree but study hall monitors and things of that nature do not.

Not true. My son is 18, in college and he is an elementary substitute teacher. It may depend on the school district and need?

I agree, she's not limited to your county, but your county's OMJ is the one she'd need to visit if she wanted their help. I'd say it's 99% likely that if she does find virtual employment, it'll be with a company not in your county.
