Sitka, Predator, and ASAT.

You really have to see it from a distance to appreciate the effectiveness of the open pattern camouflage. Mossy Oak and Realtree is all marketed to look cool to the hunter. At a distance they all look the same... A big brown blob.

That being said, hunt smart and you can kill deer wearing anything you want. It all works. Some just better than others.

Something to think about with any camo is the UV die. Don’t by anything with the UV die that enhances color. It will glow to deer. Besides that, I really don’t think pattern is all that. Ever seen Brock get all dressed up in his Sunday hunting clothes? 😂 He consistently gets mature deer in front of him. His buddy isn’t much different and also has great luck.

This also says something about your laundry detergent. Most have UV crap in them to enhance color.

I don’t use this product and never have, but it gives a solid explanation of what I’m talking about.

As long as the human shape is broken up, it really doesn’t matter. (Although I do like the feeling of being “invisible” in my head with some new camo’s)

As said, just watch the UV brighter soaps.

Many of our grandfathers killed many deer in the classic red an black plaid...myself included.(at least during gun)

So what's everyones camo of choice??? Last night I went online with the intention of buying a set of ASAT, however the prices were up there, so I passed for now.. My brother bought ASAT years ago and at first I had my doubts...Then I saw how well he blended in, either in a tree or on the ground... Stuff really work's... I'm surprised its not marketed as much as other companies... But most of my camo is bought at Walmart... Good enough to get torn up in the woods crossing a barb wire fence etc....
I’m in the same situation...a buddy of mine bought ASAT long ago and it’s served him very well over the years. I recently started looking for some for myself and all that I’ve found is pricey...but I’ll keep looking. I’ve used Realtree, mossy oak and trebark in the past, also my old army BDU’s...but I grew out of them long ago!

Whatever Walmart has on sale. Years ago I found a pair of wrangler denim pants that had what looked like a faded real tree pattern on them. They are my favorite pants. They're getting worn and a little tight in the waist, unfortunately, I'm having trouble finding a new pair.

Whatever is on sale and fits my need. The best for durability are two pairs of mossy oak treestqnd pattern pants from rocky that I got 10 years ago. They've worn well, aren't faded, and have held together very well. For under layers whatever wool sweater that I picked up at goodwill over the years, bottoms under layer is usually fleece lined tights. Deer don't give a shit what camp pattern your base layers are. Hell I don't think it really matters what you wear 20 feet off the ground unless you're exposed from a distance.

Totally agree with your statement!

Deer are basically color blind so,,,

it's no fashion show for me that's for sure and I know the deer care less what the hell I'm wearing.

The cheaper, the better for me for my early/warmer season stuff.

I have hunting clothes that have literal frayed horribly and almost fallen apart pretty much before I finally decided to trash them cause that's how cheap I am when it comes to my hunting clothes at times.

Like I said previously, it's my outer winter/colder condition clothes that I'll spend the money on and not for the camo pattern that's for sure.

Nope, not at all.

No particular order of requirements when it comes to late fall/winter clothes for me.
  • functionality
  • quality
  • durability
  • water resistant
  • wind resistant
  • reduced or no sound at all from movement
  • comfort
  • breathable
  • fit
  • color/camo pattern
  • cost
I have a 'Body Heater Suite' that I absolutely love and I've used it for approximately 8 yrs. I literally wear my early season cloths out in the dead of winter, get to my setup, then crawl into my suite after I'm completely cooled off. After that, I'll be good to go all day if need be.

Pro's of the Body Heater Suite;
  • it's super quiet
  • conceals movement
  • conceals human scent
  • conceals weapon/hunting implement in the suite with me
  • very functional
  • durable
  • both wind/water resistant
  • Mossy Oak Camo Pattern
  • easy to put on & take off - at least for me anyhow
  • the con - it's a little pricey & hard to stay awake while wearing it if you have minimal deer activity in the area

Realtree Xtra for me, but like others have said if you are smart you can kill a deer with any pattern. I will say if you camo pattern gives you confidence, go with that brand. I think mental confidence is key when hunting, and if feeling like you have the right clothes gives you an extra edge, go with that............

I completely agree, I always tell my wife I wear camo to hide from other hunters in the small NorthWestern tundra woods. I don't want them to know where I am bow hunting.

I have no favorite.

I'd really like to see the WWII print come back. To me, it's about as effective as any ever made.

Anyone try any of the Nomad gear? Seems they have a ton of different patterns and damn near every show people are wearing it. I know that doesn’t mean it’s any good, that’s why I’m asking. They have a pattern like the original Realtree...also have some digital stuff that pretty neat. Thinking I’d look cool at Walmart with it 😂. Seriously though, kids are starting to want stuff, rather buy quality so they can pass it down.
