This morning while I sat at the table sipping my first cup of coffee, my eight year old sat beside me scratching something on a napkin. He slid it to me to take a look and asked "So, what do you want to do when we are done pulling the coyote snares?" I'll give him credit, he knows how to pull strings...

I gave him every excuse I could think of... The boat is not ready. I haven't got the rods ready. We need to cut downed trees. Etc, none of which seemed a good reason. He had a counter for everything, and even determined we should go fish the marina. It's actually a decent crappie fishing hole throughout winter and spring. So, we went shortly after returning home from pulling snares and shed hunting. We caught about a dozen or so.

Here's Mason showing how to aggressively catch crappie, along with one he out waited.

Oops, here he is.

Good stuff right there! When I was his age, I did the same thing... every piece of paper or napkin I had in front of me eventually had a fish or a deer on it. lol

When I was 8 it was all bicycles and motorcycles with a little fishing mixed in. No chance in the world I could have drawn like that because I can't draw like that NOW! haha Couldn't sit still long enough to do it the either. Keep getting him out there Brock. Ha. Who am I kidding? Sounds like HE is going to keep getting YOU out there.

That's the best right there!!

I need to get my son out there. He's always ready to go, but like you said, it's kinda easy to make excuses... gotta finish this or that project needs done first. Sometimes the projects and "to do's" just need to wait.
