While I was mowing at High Voltage Acres today, I got off the mower long enough to walk down into the woods and check my Ostrich fern patch for any late fiddleheads. Fern patch was less than 100 yards from the tractor. I walked within 10 feet of newborn fawn on the way down the hill to the fern patch and didn't see it laying tight up against an old dead log, but when I turned around and was re-tracing my trail back up the hill, I saw it. Not sure I've seen one any earlier. Left my damn phone on the tractor, so I did not get a pic. I could have gotten a really great one, too. Rats.
