First Yote ever.

Coon number 14 tonight. I think this ya be my biggest coo this year. The boot picture doesn't do him justice. By the way my boot is a twelve. When I first got there he wanted to play hide and seek but my 22 revolver found him pretty quickly.

I got an XXL tonight. Will find out if any of it is left in a few days. There still may be some of it left on the underside of my wife's Envoy. Didn't stop for it. Didn't even have time to hit the brakes. Between Indian Lake and New Hampshire on 33W heading home from a family Christmas gathering in Columbus. lmao

Hahahahaha. At least ya won't have to worry about fleshing and stretching it.
Just hit back from checking and unsetting my traps until Thursday morning. I caught two coon last night, one in a DP and one in a leghold. I let the one in the leghold go, he was just a little fella and he was caught just barely by the toes. The funniest part was the leghold was across a creek that I could walk across when the water was normal. Needless to say the water wasn't normal yesterday and had washed all the cover off exposing the trap. I had my two nephews with me yesterday, one is 8 and one is 6, and it is a long walk around to get to the leghold. So. Said the heck with it because I had planned on unsetting it today anyway, it was still set but completely exposed. I made the long walk around to get to it and a DP that was under 3' of water yesterday and low and behold that little fella had gotten caught in that exposed leghold. I got him pinned down and released him and he bailed off into the creek. He swam across and up the bank he went no worse for the wear.

Awesome^^^ I'm out of the race for a couple days. The washouts under the fence where i set look like they should have steelhead running up them right now lol!!!

I'm out until Thursday. I am taking a couple days off until after Christmas. Thursday morning I plan to reset all my traps plus put some yote sets out. Saturday I am heading to a buddies house to flesh and stretch some hides. Gonna try to get six coon put up and half my rats. In planning on taking all my pelts to a fur auction at Maysville Boosters building here outside of Zanesville in March.

Got back out there today and reset my 6 DPs plus set 6 more that Santa Claus brought me. I also set 6 coyote sets and I am gonna boil and wax the other 6 of those that Santa Claus brought me. I also got a tip from the land owner that he had been seeing coons in a culvert quite regularly so I am gonna stick a couple legholds there this weekend. My brother is home from Montana and is going with me to check traps tomorrow. Hopefully I catch something tonight. A big ole yote would be nice.

so santa hoarded all the traps to the ricer household...im gonna have to have a talk with the fat man...

Well done so far on the trapping Don!

Thanks Flutie.

Checked the traps with my brother who is home for the holidays from Montana. He also brought my 19 year old nephew. They had a blast! Wanted to know every detail about the different coyote sets and just how the dog proofs worked. It wasn't a big haul on the trap line but I did catch a nice sized coon. He flies back out tomorrow but said he was gonna do all he could to check my line with me one more time. I also made it to the local hide tanner to drop off my yote I caught earlier this season to have it tanned. That is the the first yote I ever caught in a leghold.
