Had my first real shed walk today. Prolly walked a couple miles in 3-5" of snow with a solid sheet of ice covering it and my calves sure feel it while I'm here at work this evening! Dang! Lmao

Saw some deer tracks but more than a few yote tracks on this farm I walked today. Someone is supposedly hunting them or trapping them but they need to do a better job! Found squat as I still think its early but buck numbers will be down as well in this area so I'm forecasting a meager shed year for me here in the SW(Warren county).

Pulled a card today and had a few turkeys and small deer over the past week stop by. Also took a neat pic of an old falling apart treestand that was replaced with a more modern ladder stand. Wonder what stories the old stand could tell and how many years between the two being out up. Also if the hunter had any luck from the two stands.

Here is the pic of the stands(ladder stand is off the the right and back some)

Small buck pic

We're expecting more snow tomorrow but I prolly won't get back out anytime soon....still TOO early and don't want to push them out if there are any around that is! Lol

I always like finding old stands like that. Cool pic Ric!!

I gave a honk when I drove by your exit today!

Haha! Awesome buddy! Next time if you got time and our schedules align you need to stop out, I'm about 15 minutes off I-71.
Yeah I like checking out old stands as well. You wonder what the deer patterns were back then, what clued the hunter as why he selected that tree, how big was that tree back then, what was killed from that tree and what all the experiences were enjoyed from that perch.....

I'm finally on the board with this real nice 60" 4 point side. Looked all over for its mate but couldn't find it. In the words of Arnold in "The Terminator", "I'LL BE BACK!" Lol

Nice find, Ric! I've been out in the woods with one of my landowners every day this week in Fayette Co. We have not seen a single deer track. Today, we went into a 68 acre woods that I've never been in. I saw one set of old tracks, but we did find the remains of three dead deer. The first one we found was a dead head, small 8. Two of the three were fairly fresh kills, blood all over the snow. Going by what we've seen, its' amazing I saw ANY deer this fall!

Thanks guys! I couldn't get my mind off the other side and since I found it as I was leaving yesterday I had to get back after it....on 2 hours sleep, if that!lol

Got up at 7:30 this morning for good and ran back out there and walked my ass off in and around these two big ass picked cornfields. Still plenty of corn on the ground so I figured I stood a good to decent chance of finding it. Well I found numbers 2 and 3 but was unable to locate the other side of the 60 incher. The two I found this morning are small but freshys with no chews so that makes me a happy camper but now I wonder where the other 3 halves are of the 3 I got! LMAO
