This might be drawn out over a few days. I will fill in as I remember and have time.

Some of you may remember me getting shook to my core last year over a buck. I decided I was going to find that deer. Well, Brock and I found that deer late summer/early fall. I still didn't want to hunt that deer. Not sure why, maybe fear of failure, maybe because of what bug deer do to people? Not sure why but he looked me in the yes ans called me a fucking moron 😂. Said he was going to be mad at me if i didn't hunt that deer. So I geared up. Bought a fancy bow and some new cell cams. (I suppose you guys want to see him)

I had this deer showing up most mornings on my cam. Then the major hurricane hit and I spent the first month of the season in NC. Deer had vanished right before I returned. I still haven't seen him. Could be dead, could still be alive. No idea.

So back to reality I went. With this new diet I have been eating alot more red meat. I was hungry and wanting to tag as much meat as possible. Mature deer only was the plan! I called @Redhunter1012 and told him I was a shooter this year for our annual hunt. Don't put me any place ypu can't afford for deer to be shot, lol. He did his little ginja giggle and understood the assignment. First night while walking in i couldn't take a piss without him making it awkward. Looking me dead in the eyes talking about a shooter buck or something. I pinched it off and asked him how far, he said 100 yards. Well, wtf is the rush, I continued my piss. Lol, we got settled and basically had nonstop deer action all evening. At one point we had deer on both sides of us. He was turned one way and I was turned the other. I whispered "im gonna shoot that little one" i was looking at a big doe and he was looking at the little one 5 yards from him, lol. She took a few steps and stopped perfect. THWACK! She bolted and ran. Huge and loud thud. We giggled, fist bumped and shared a story about the stand we were standing under. Awesome moment. First hunt evening was a success and the pressure was off. Big doe down. Drove the truck right to her. Perfect

Next morning he kicked me out of the truck and I was on my own. I was going to hunt and he was going to do some road looking for a good buck to hunt. I ended up in the wrong stand but I was still seeing deer. Just nothing in range. Once I realized I was in the wrong stand I moved to the right one. Within minutes I had 2 little ones under me. It was awesome. Then I heard blowing from waaaay across the field. 350 yards away this big gal was doing stupid shit. All the way to me she was blowing and acting stupid. THWACK! No giggling, i was angry. Watched her run out to the field in front of me and expire. Hard to tell, but she is laying there with her fawn looking over her doing all the calling for me.

I went to recock my crossbow and dropped the crank. Damnit. So here comes all the deer to see what all the noise is about. As I'm halfway down the tree😂

Oh well. I took pics and enjoyed the show. Another mature deer down. Second hunt and I'm doing just fine. Sending all these updates to @OhioWhiteTails as he is in a work meeting and then coming our way. 2 coyotes came at a sprint and cleared the field. I got down, gathered my stuff and collected my deer. Ryan was able to drive right o this one too! Winning

So nate arrives and I'm basically over hunting. I have a hell of a mess and I'm more interested in drinking. But now everyone else smells the blood in the water. So out we go! I have Ryan by my side again and we are in a money spot. Very limited access and all we have permission for is a ditch line and field. We make it to a good spot that looks like a good crossing. Most of the ditch was dry and this spot still had some water in it. We sit down, one of us on each side of the ditch.

This is what we got and if you've never done this style of hunting, you are missing out. Within minutes Ryan sees a buck way off and he joins my side. Things got exciting pretty quick. Deer coming right at us. 6 point chasing a doe and some other chasing going on. Call it what you want but we spooned. Got as small and as low as we could and let it all happen around us. We legit almost got stepped on multiple times. The doe jumped over my legs at one point. The 6 point knew something was up and stopped across the ditch from us. I was gonna shoot him. The story was awesome and he would've been my biggest 6 to date. He buste me moving. Weird, he was all of 20' away when I moved😂.

He bolted and we had deer running all over. We let them settle in again. They never fully settled back down, but then again they never were calm. Lots of chasing going on. But now a big 8 had entered the field and we both liked him. Ryan asked if I wanted him to call and I said yes. This guy...I'm telling you guys, this guy turned into a 2 year old in a cereal isle throwing a fit. Full body, on the ground, throwing a fit. I wish I would've recorded him. But when he was doing this, that 8 point would walk to us. So I kept telling him to keep going. That ended up getting his ass shot.

Deer still running all around us and I was tagged out. Ryan went to get the truck.

Second day I went to work and @Redneckfucker went to do deer drives. He was now on buck patrol and I was after does. I dislocated my knee that day at work. So that opened my schedule to hunt again the third day of gun season. Away we went. Still hunting because I was pretty much screwed for anything else. Pew pew and we now have a bigger mess to deal with, lol.

That led to day drinking, I know, hard to believe 😂😂😂. Day 4 and Michael is about over it. Still telling me he is after a big one, but I can tell by the way he is looking at cell cams pics...he is a shooter today. Lol

He decides he just wants to go take a look at this buck all over an area on camera that morning. I get to explain to him that the thermals are gonna be perfect if we wait for the sun and work the frost line down to him. So we do that. Michael spots him first and all I can hear is his big ass breathing like a grizzly bear😂. Oh shit, here we go! He ranges him...buck starts to walk away and he tells me to call. Fuck you buddy, that's on your I'm not calling. POW! 😂😂😂

Bonus gun is here. I'm over butchering. I don't even want to hunt at this point but I still owe a property a doe. I also said I was going to get my state limit this year. So I get up yesterday and go hunt. My son kody has been fighting covid all week and I was feeling it myself. So I cut my hunt short as I just couldn't do it. I was feeling rough! It was time for rest and meds. This morning was another no go. Which put me at this afternoon. I told the wife I needed to go pull the signs down (i hunt a hiking trail property). She should ride out with me and then she can run into the store and buy me more meds. We joke on the way out about pulling in and shooting one. Well, we pull in and there stands a big doe. Range her @229 and i tell her if the deer walks to the yard (old household) i was going to kill her. She laughs. Deer walks right to it. I gave her the "are you fucking kidding, hang on" POW! The deer went down. I went to walk to her and lost sight of her for a minute. Then I see a deer and it is obviously hurt. I can tell by the tail twitching. Shit, back to the truck to grab the gun. Looking in the scope I could see blood pumping out of both sides of her. She looks up at me and I let another round go. She is 100% dead now. First shot was plenty, i have no idea how she was standing like nothing happened. But I couldn't watch her suffer.

2024' deer season is in the books for me. I'm done. Tagged out and the freezers are full. Thanks for reading. Time to thin out squirrels.
