Looks like Hodgdon is divesting itself of GOEX. Shame. :(

Hodgdon Powder Company has announced the closure of the GOEX black powder facility in Louisiana. Bad news for traditional muzzleloading and black powder cartridge rifle shooters.

Saw that but wondering why now they’re getting outta that side of the business? Especially with everything being in short supply.

Despite Hodgdon's efforts, the GOEX facility at Camp Minden has a history of manufacturing incidents stretching back to 1998, including a June 2011 incident where 1,000 lbs. of blackpowder exploded. The latest incident at GOEX occurred on June 18, 2021, when an explosion required the evacuation of 15 employees inside the facility. Nobody was injured, but the plant observed a 24- to 48-hour waiting period to ensure that nothing else at the facility ignited.

My only concern is that Estes Energetics was created in 2021. So its likely a proxy for some other company. Not sure how long-term this will be.

This is part of the Estes model rocket company, so it's not a new business. I'm guessing Goex was a supplier to Estes and they want control of the supply chain.

Here's is the corporate registration info and the addresses is the same as the one for Estes rockets.
